Ramgarh , also known as “Fruit Bowl of Kumaon” (owing to its orchards of peach, apricots, pears & Apples), a small hill station on the way to Mukteshwar in Nanital.

The place offers an unobstructed view of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas.
The famous poets Rabindra Nath Tagore had established their ashrams over here.

It has an average elevation of 1,518 metres (4,980 feet). The altitude ranges from 1,400 metres in the Talla (Lower) Ramgarh valley to 1,900 metres in Malla (Upper) Ramgarh. The East-West ridge above Malla Ramgarh has an elevation of 2000–2350 metres. (Courtesy Wikipedia).

There are multiple accommodations available in various budget categories. We stayed in The Ramgarh Bungalows, Neemrana Hotels. One can pick staying on a peak, by the cliff or simple in the middle of an orchard, there are six cottages available to choose from. The property is magical, confortable cottages, fireplace tingling and amazing views. The warmth and affection of the staff touches you, a special thanks to the team there.

We stayed in Ram Kumar in the Clif house and The Green Room at Ashok Vatika.

We enjoyed ourselves. – the beauty of this place is its simplicity and serenity.

Route : Gurgaon – delhi – hapur – gajraula – Moradabad – Rampur – Bilaspur – Pantnagar – Haldwani – Kathgodam – Bhimtal – Ramgarh.
Tip, do start early in the morning to avoid getting stuck in jams and city traffic. We started at 5:15am and reached Ramgarh at 2:00pm with two small breaks of breakfast and lunch.

Excellent heritage property, to just relax and unwind with your feet up . Sometimes it is good to have nothing to do . Just relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. It is just that kind of place unless you want to drive for 1-2 hours one way, there are many places to see.
As far as the place is concerned, it is serene , quiet, clean , peaceful and excellent location. You can take walks around with out the fear of traffic, noise or tiredness.
When you come to the property, they have many options to offer depending on your requirements. All their rooms are heritage cottages and comfortable to stay. Staff is courtoeus and helpful. Food is good thou' it gets rolled out from their centralized kitchen which takes a while to come. Plan your food requirements accordingly. However, it is well compensated by the excellent spread of buffet meals they offer. Whatever is cooked is lip smacking. Thay take care of the guests requests to the maximum be it rolling out hot rotis or hot jaggery. Staff is courtoeus.
Rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, beautified appropriately. Thou' I would like to add a SUGGESTION. Inspite of retaining their heritage interiors they need to modernize their heating systems in the rooms. It is a hill station with high pitched roofs, large rooms so it takes forever to warm up with the heaters. One also has to keep in mind that electricity can go anytime in the hills so beds/quilts/blankets need to be warm enough to sustain on their own. Hot water bottles are offered which is actually a LIFE SAVER in the mountains but they should to be constantly monitered and maintained to give out maximum heat and avoid spillage or tear as that can be dangerous. Quilts can be thicker and lighter with the beautiful heritage linen on them.
The foilage around the cottages is beautiful and lot of care has been taken to maintain them. One can see all of it. All in all , excellent property.

Room Tip: As we were in the Writers bunglow, which is their best located and most beautiful one. It has a 360...

I went with my wife to this hotel in June 2011. After completing formalities at reception, when I checked in with my wife in room, both of us were in some shock to see the room. We were expecting something luxurious but it was not. May be our taste is not like that.
Balcony of our room was shared with someone else, so it was not a private affair. Also, I always like TV in room, but it was downstairs and it was common one for person sharing other room !!!
Food and service was good . Fresh fruits are served from their garden.
In nutshell, it was an average experience for me.

Our stay was like a stopover, stayed only for a night, it's beautiful, very serene and peaceful, you could hear the voice of kids playing down the hill from a distance, rooms were pretty ok, it got really cold in the night, temperature dropped till about 6•C and there was a scary storm that we experienced, and it really got scary as the electricity kept playing hide and seek, the caretaker was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was special as everything was from their own orchards, jams, marmalade, juice. Rustic!!

It was our 2nd anniversary on 1st December 2012 and we wanted to make it extra special... After reading the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided on Ramgarh Bungalows. After starting around 9.30 am from Noida, we reached KathGodam around 5pm (due to a couple of wrong turns and bad roads). We also missed out on taking the Bhimtal road, instead took the Nainital road, which resulted in a longer route and so we finally managed to reach the Bungalows around 6.30pm.
We had called ahead and had someone waiting for us outside the main gate. He showed us around the available rooms, and we decided on Gaitonde Room n the Cliff House. It was love at first sight with the room; with its beautiful red interiors and antique finishes.... Since the other room in the Cliff House was empty, we had the whole cottage to ourselves!! The rooms have a long common terrace which has a spell-bounding valley view....We had hot tea and pakoras (which were awesome) and then dinner followed at 8. We decided to have dinner on the dining space in our cottage. We were waited upon by 2 people throughout the dinner, which was an awesome affair in itself. We had lemon coriander soup followed by starters and main course comprising of 5-6 dishes!! Dessert was kheer and a piece of a sinful pie!
The Cliff house has a beautiful sitting area, with a small TV and very comfortable seats. There is also a wooden chest which has comforters to help fight the cold.
The next morning we decided to head to the main dining for the breakfast. The breakfast was a modest affair with aloo sabzi-puri, eggs made to order, toast, cornflakes, fresh juice and home-made jams and jellies. The open-dining is located in the main villa area and is around a 1km walk from Cliff House.
We bought a number of fresh fruit jams / jellies from the factory there. The place has scenic beauty with nothing much to do except enjoy the serenity of the place. One gets fully rejuvenated. The best season visit is Summers, as they have their own private fruit orchards which are open to the guests to stroll, pluck, eat and even carry back home!
in all it was an amazing trip, though the drive was tiring. I would recommend traveling by train till KathGodam and then hiring taxis.

Room Tip: Cliff House has the best views !!! Also if traveling with family, take both rooms and the whole cott...

Like all Neemrana 'Non-hotels' this place is absolutely fantastic. There is no doubt about it. Nestled among verdant Ramgarh hills, the bungalows (total 6 of them) give you the real essence of Kumaon.
I stayed at Iris Room in Vista Villa. This room has splendid views of the hills. The estate is 200 years old and doesn't have modern amenities like Telephones & TV's but the time you spend here is the quality time that you spend with yourself and your loved ones. I went here in Nov, it was very cold outside but the room was warm thanks to the heater and electrically heated mattress. We just used to wake up, watch sunrise, have amazing breakfast, take a short walk, have lunch, take a afternoon siesta, have hot pakoras while watching the sunset and then just retire to your room till the best time of the day - Dinner.
You do nothing in Ramgarh..sit & relax. The mighty mountains in front of you will make you feel so small and will make you forget about all your worries here and just de-stress yourself just by sleeping and feasting on spread they have laid out for you. I have traveled many cities n states both India and abroad and the food I found at this hotel is simply the best. The juices were made from fruits that they cultivate on the estate. Guava, Peach & Rhododendron juices on 3 days I spent here...all so good that I advise them to sell it in market. Same with the jams..Plum jam is unique and delicious. The dinner spread was like this - A soup, Salads, 1 chicken/mutton dish, 1 Paneer Dish, 1 Veggie gravy, 1 Italian dish either pasta or spaghetti, 1 best Dal i have ever eaten, rice and locally made desert - Apple pie was simply superb. The service is good..Neemrana Group employs local people and trains them good. I found the staff very polite and willing to help. Basant was the person in charge of us..and he was fantastic. The system here is, you ring a bell and then the person comes to your room. How many times you call Basant, he was never tired, always smiling and willing to assist. Many thanks.
The common tip collection center is a great idea..they write the amount in register & take your signature and then distribute the amount among everyone. Good. Because the chefs deserve it for the wonderful food of all types. They even packed a breakfast for us when we left early for train one day.

Couple of improvements - I would suggest a TT table just to kill of some time as it will not even hamper the overall ambiance and rustic feeling. And a hand shower in bathroom.

But all in all..this is the perfect place for a nice relaxing family holiday or a romantic holiday for couples. Just go there, forget about the world. Breath fresh mountain air in your lungs, read the book that you always wanted to read, talk to yourself and leave promising yourself that you will be back.

Room Tip: Iris, Fuchsia & Rose Cottage (All in Vista Villa) have great views of the mountains. Old Bungalo...

Hello folks, what a place to start your tour with.....

we got down @ kathgodam early morning at 5 ishhh on 15th dec 12 n headed straight to ramgarh bungalows, it was chilling cold, n the first expression we had was '' WOW '' . it has got stunning views especially @ the place where they serve breakfast.

we were in the yellow room in ashok vatika n this room was very nice expect that it did not had a view from the room.

this place has a very ethnic feel to it, n neemrana has blended it with some very good luxuries. even very small things have been really taken care of like

1) bathing soap ( natural ginger pure ingridients)

2) hair cleanser ( thick gel like substance again pure )

they serve u here with freshly made jams in their own factory n own grown fruits all this adds to the natural feel u have in this place.

i would highly recommend this place.

Cheers.

Own up the Himalayas from colonial British bungalows with bay windows, verandahs and terraced gardens.
