“Staff could be more attentive but the food was very good.”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

We went here on a Friday night which and the entire hotel and bistro were very busy. We could see that the bistro was not entirely full so decided we would give it a go. After initially standing at the "please wait to be seated" sign for around five minutes while different staff walked past us seemingly unconcerned (and yes, did bring this to the attention of a 'drinks waiter' who told us to wait!?), we were finally shown to a table. I then had had to get up and fetch the menu's for my family myself (not a great start). This bistro redeemed itself once the food arrived. My kids meals were freshly prepared and proper meals (not like most restaurants where the kids meals are frozen dinners re-heated) which included a very tasty pasta with bolognaise sauce, freshly made pizza and a chicken schnitzel. Could not fault these! I had a very lovely and tender steak and my husband had kangaroo - so much kangaroo he could barely eat it all (I mean this in a positive too, most times these places tend to skimp on the meat). The salad bar was also equally tasty. Freshly made and some interesting and different salads (I particularly enjoyed the broccoli and cauliflower salad with mustard dressing). Despite the initial let down during our visit, this place is well worth a visit for casual dining.

Our family enjoys the meals here, particularly the oldies. The meals are consistently good pub fare with better than usual wines. It is comfortable and our older family members are treated as special people. There is also a senior's discount at lunchtime which makes the meals even cheaper at around $14. Quite good bread rolls are included and there is a salad bar with the usual salads as well as some boiled potatoes and fruit. You won't leave here hungry. Good idea to book on weekends as it is always busy.

We often visit the Morphett Arms for a meal and have always found the meals to be of good quality. A wide selection of salads available from the salad bar. The bistro area has a nice ambience. Recommend.

Morphett arms ticked all of my boxes. I did not try the meals, only the bar and a room upstairs for a week. For $350 they gave you a decent sized room, shower and vanity, two double beds, fridge and tv. Loved being able to come and go any time of night. I wanted to be close to south Adelaide so this hotel was in a prime location.

My only qualm was the loud leaf blower in the early morning. Music is played until around 1 or 2am from the games room which you could here from my room, which I honestly didn't mind, but could be someone's turn off.
