It was freezing, wet and windy when we decided to have a romantic dinner at Siemers Indian Restaurant but after braving the elements to get there, we were absolutely thrilled with the atmosphere and the food.
The restaurant is an old stone building and has a variety of different sized rooms, each with a blazing open fire. We were lucky enough to get a spot right in front of one of these fireplaces, although the burgundy, gold and dark brown coloured decore, carpets and furnishings really add warmth to the decor as well.
The food was really wonderful. Generous serves, traditional, tasty, and we thought inexpensive for the quality. The wine list has a very nice selection of mostly local Adelaide Hills and other South Australia wines... there is something for everyone on this menu.
We had vegetable samosas and prawn pakoras to start with and wow! So Yummy! The pastry on the samosas as perfect and the filling generous. The prawns were huge and succulent; the batter crispy and had me chewing every last bit from the prawn tail! The chicken madras and prawn and basil curry were also to live for. The only thing that didn't appeal to me was the raita, it had too much sugar in it. I generally love raita but was a bit disappointed with this one, although the serve was a generous size.
We finished the meal with a creme brulee and I had a frangelico. We were extremely sated and were happy sat in front of the roaring fire sipping liqueurs before heading out into the winters night again.
Enjoy this one on a cold winters night like we did!
