Great food and love the pub. I passed through Fergus twice in the past year stopping at the Breadalbane each time for a bite. I enjoyed the beer selection and the patio in the summer is a must. There was even live music on the patio. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere inviting with many friendly locals. The historical building and well maintained grounds make a walk around the place enjoyable. I picked up a bottle of the Breadalbane's salad dressing which made for a very popular gift. I will definitely be stopping here again then next time I am in the area.

this small town country inn is a hidden gem! We had a perfect anniversary weekend in the small Scottish Destination of Fergus. Only minutes away from Elora and lots of quaint sites around Mennonite country including a covered bridge. The Inn and the staff were fantastic, we had a really nice turn of the century room....make sure you plan to stay for dinner, there is also a great selection of draft beer...high on my list

Room Tip: check with the front desk and ask what they have available....have a great weekend!

Stayed for 1 night in the Harrett suite. We were disappointed by the lack of warmth and friendliness of the whole establishment.
First off it was so hot when we went to check in. The room had a stale odour to it and did not smell fresh.
Food was very expensive for the quality.
I could not believe the cost to stay 1 night. It cost us $ 340.00 for 1 night, a dinner and 1 breakfast..
We will never go back..
We don't mind spending our money on some good quality, This visit did not meet our expectations.
We have been to several other Ontario's finest Inns and this one has turned us off.
Best Western will be our next choice.

Wouldn't you wonder if the people writing the reviews on the Breadalbane were actually all at the same establishment??? Unfortunately, I believe they are all correct. I have been going here for about ten years and the lack of consistency is unbelievable. There are very good servers and very bad servers, but rarely will they be there when you return the next time. One time your meal will be excellent and the next a comedy of errors. Imagine ordering a snowpea salad which arrives with no snowpeas on it!! Meals plunked down in front of you but no utensils. Needless to say, I don't go as often as I would if I knew I could count on consistent food and consistent service. It's really a shame as it should be and could be such a great place. Surely it must be a complete lack of proper management.

We booked a play in Stratford, Ontario for the Saturday afternoon and had left it too late to find a hotel to stay in. We starting scouting the nearby areas and landed on The Breadalbane Inn in Fergus. Fergus is a lovely 50 minute country drive from Stratford. We had never been to Fergus and it is a lovely town. Loaded with gorgeous stone buildings all along the river. Very nice for an afternoon of exploration!
The Breadlabane Inn was built in 1850 and they have tried to maintain much of the original detail There is a bit of an old building smell to the place.
We stayed in the two suites at the top of the stairs – one was called the Master Suite and I cannot recall the name of the other one. Both rooms were a good size and were decorated in period pieces. Given the “historical look” of the decor, I expected the bed to be uncomfortable – it was anything but! We had a wonderful sleep in a very comfortable four poster bed. The owners have tried to think of everything to make your stay comfortable. The rooms come with plush bathrobes and an in room Keriug coffee/tea service. There is a gas fireplace in the room which you turn on with the flick of a switch. There is a towel heater in the bathroom. There was no closet in our room only hooks upon which to hang your clothes. Worked well for an overnight stay. Would have preferred a closet for a longer stay.
The bathroom was a good size with a large tub and shower.
Breakfast was included and was excellent with a range of innovative offerings – not your traditional eggs and bacon breakfast. Definitely more fine dining.
We also enjoyed dinner downstairs in the fine dining room the night before. We sat the solarium area which was lovely. The food, presentation and service were superb. The focus was on local farm to table ingredients and the servers were knowledgeable about the selections. We had several food allergies at our table and the wait and kitchen staff were terrific at accommodating our needs.
We got a special weekend deal which included breakfast and $75 coupon per room for dinner. Made dinner very reasonable.
Overall, good value for money.

Just stayed 2 nights in deluxe king suite. Yes, bathroom was in our room, we didn't share with other guests, however it was IN our room!
No door or wall separating bathroom from bedroom was just not appealing.
The rugs smelled everywhere we went throughout the inn. Time to upgrade folks!
On second day we were given a wastebasket full of ice. Ugh!
A small bar fridge should be in each room in this day in age. No wifi either.
Room has virtually no place to put luggage on, or our toiletries. Everything on smelly carpets :(
Room could use a good dusting too.
A/C was a wall unit that sounded like jet engine, and there wasn't screens on windows, so a bit tricky with lack of air flow...
Bed was comfy, coffee good, but not enough of it.

Food was extremely good, and service fantastic. Just needs a shot in the upgrade department and I might think of staying again, but as is, it's not worth the $$$. Go for breakfast and dinner in a heartbeat though!

Stayed 4 nights here on business in April. Not our first time. We reserved the McCattie Suite which is in a newer building separate from the original stone inn. Very quiet and private. However the room needs updating in a big way. Decor is knotty pine with country accents, which is tired nowadays. TV was the old big tube type. Bathroom vanity was quite satisfactory - good lighting, reasonable counter space, etc. The separate shower/toilet room is cramped and out of date. On the plus side - room was very clean, King bed was comfy, and the gas fireplace warmed us up nicely. A Keurig which did not work was replaced right away with a working one.

We ate several meals in the Inn. Breakfast, included in the rate, was excellent every morning, with a very good selection, ranging from healthy to the farmer's platter. One of us went healthy, the other went to the farm.

Dinners come from 2 different menus - the Pub, which has a great and long list of more casual styles of food, and the fine dining menu available in the separate and very pleasant courtyard dining area. We tried both and had great results from each. The Inn has made a commitment to sourcing local foods and has done an excellent job developing good meals, and also informing the diners of the contents of their meal.

We'll go back again next year, looking especially forward to the great food, and hoping that the room gets a makeover in the meantime.
