Lovely quaint tea rooms with small outside area. Lovely warm homemade scones and plenty of cream and jam and huge pot of tea. Scrumptious and nice place to sit outside and watch world go by. Pretty little place worth a visit.

Centrally situated along the quaint main street in Beer, this is a pretty, thatched, small café/tea rooms. Inside (a few steps to entrance), there are two small rooms, with quirky design features, some of which are available to buy (antique-type-not cheap!). Tables are rustic dark oak and most seat two or four. There are a couple of small tables outside in a small passageway. We had a Devon cream tea and the teacups are enormous! Mine held almost the entire contents of the teapot, but this lent the experience a certain charm. :-) The waitress was very pleasant, despite being rushed off her feet as it was a busy Saturday with glorious sunshine in peak season. The cream tea was delicious, generous little bowls of lovely strawberry jam and clotted cream and the scones were lovely, and served warm. Worth a visit, but service may be a bit slow at busy times.

It's a long time since I've seen the "Captain" although he looked more like a retired Admiral. It's not large but the food is always very good and reasonably priced, with the largest tea cups for miles around. Recommended.
