Owner description: Guided tours of vast underground caverns started by the Romans, which provided Beer stone used in 24 Cathedrals, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, and many other historic buildings. See for yourself where and how the stone was quarried, the appalling working conditions and dangers faced by the work force, some as young as 8 years old. See too, the site of the secret Catholic Chapel and where smugglers hid their contraband. 2000 years of heritage brought vividly to life

Spend a lot of time in this area and always wanted to see the caves.

Our tour lasted about an hour and twenty minutes so pretty good for 7 quid.

The guide came across at the start as a bit rude as he said to a couple who arrived after he started talking "come on you're late" the late comers apologised, not sure I would have apologised.

We brought our 4 year old who was brilliant but got a bit restless towards the end so I would say it's better for slightly older kids.

Small cafe outside with friendly lady serving basic tea and coffee and cakes.

Bob the guide seemed pretty passionate about his history

All in all. I enjoyed it but its the sort of place I wouldnt feel the need to return to

A very interesting attraction if you like caves, no stooping although its a little chilly in the mine so a jumper or coat is good. A very knowledgable guide helped to make the visit very interesting although perhaps not really suitable for children, they would probably get bored. Good value for money though

This is just outside Beer village and is an amazing underground maze of footpaths where the stone has been quarried for a long time to help build Cathedrals other important buildings, Excellent guides.

A good trip out. I found this place really interesting and the guide does a great job! It is quite chilly in the caves all year round, so make sure you have something to put on in the summer! Good for kids and grown ups!
