We rented the whole YH for a weekend in March. There were about 35 people in our group. Location is excellent, good starting point for walks and cycle rides. It is a beautiful building, it is well maintained and spotless inside. Everything was in working order and it had all the things you need to cater for a large group (apart from a bottle opener!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Previously we rented the YH in Dartmouth, Minehead and Okehampton and the consensus was that this one was the best so far!

My wife, 3 year old son and I had a fantastic time at Beer YHA. It is a beautiful building with lovely views over Beer. It is very clean and you can tell it is looked after with lots of care and attention to detail. The manager, Gwen, was very welcoming, friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. We had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: We stayed upstairs with lovely views over the garden and Beer.

We've just hired the entire YHA hostel for our wedding. The entire set up was perfect. We had complete use of the hostel from Friday through to Sunday, which gave the marquee company we'd used loads of time to set up and take down the marquee itself. The Hostel boasts an impressive lawn that has views back up the valley and across to the sea. Our party was fairly modest with 50 guests, and a 6m by 15m marquee was the perfect size and filled about a 3rd of the lawn. You could probably get away with a 24m by 15m marquee if you wanted. The lawn is also close enough to run power from the hostel to a marquee so no generators were required. With nearly 40 beds, most of our guests stayed in the hostel which was great fun. You get full use of the self catering kitchen which has 3 fridges, 3 cookers, microwave, toaster, kettle and loads of utensils, crockery and cutlery etc. It was also suitable for our caterers to use for preparing the wedding breakfast too. The hostel itself is a beautiful building and creates a great back drop for photos. Inside, there was enough hot water (and showers) for everyone to have a shower in the hour we gave them to get ready in between a swim in the sea and our evening celebrations.
Added to all this, the hostel is a short walk from some of the most beautiful spots on the south coast.

After reading numerous positive reviews prior to booking our group of 3 were disappointed with many aspects of the YHA.
We arrived after a long days walk to face a fairly laborious check in - online payment in advance may be worth considering, especially as the booking was made online.
Room was basic, clean and fine other than the lack of towels. Went back to reception to ask for some but there were only 2 clean ones available in the whole of the hostel so our third member was given a bed sheet with which to dry himself post shower.
Breakfast the next morning, while plentiful, was poorly prepared and low quality.
Would struggle to recommend to anyone, especially as price wise it worked out no cheaper than local B&B's which offer greater comfort and quality.

Having stayed 5 days ,we are really enjoyed our stay at the YHA Beer . The staff are very friendly and helpful.the facilities are nice and clean ,ideal for families but the self catering kitchen can get very busy ! 10 to 15 min walk to the beach through the village high street.Beer is a charming village .A short drive from Lyme Regis and Charmouth ,both places we all loved !

We stayed here on a 3mth UK trip. The YHA manager was really pleasant and helpful. The room was good and the location was an easy walk to the main village. We enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again one day. Full marks - thanks so much !
