Lovely setting, overlooking the beach. Value-for-money fare, including numerous seafood specialities. Bar not particularly comfortable but restaurant met all our requirements.

“Good for all appetite.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

Whether you want a sandwich or a full meal, you can have either in the bars, the restaurant or the garden. The sea food is excellent and the selection of beers is good.

“winter warmth”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

family visit to beer , a cold day time to visit the cove only briefly then find some where to eat. the anchor in is perched above the cove and the dining room gives a view of the sea and lyme bay. the dining rom is modest, with original paintings from a nearby gallery. the service was fast and efficient despite a full restaurant. the food with the acccent on local produce was execellent. traditional battered cod and mushy peas spot on, i had a salmon seak with a saffron sauce and cous cous, the crab chouder was another treat, along with crab salad.Tthe kids ate everything and so did we . including drinks it worked out about £11 head everyone was thoroughlysatisfied with price that was more than matched by the quality.in the summer its even better the beer garden restaurant is above the cliff- so the anchor it is from now on great value great views what more can you ask for.

“Wide choice of 'Today's Specials'”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Friendly staff, who were very welcoming when we asked whether dogs were allowed in. My liver and bacon served in a creamy jus, rested on a bed of mash potato (£7.95, from 'Today's Specials') was superb. From the same menu, one friend chose a fresh whole mackerel served with a salad and granary bread and the other friend chose a large fillet of beer battered haddock with chips and mushy peas (and was the fillet large!). The Homemade Jammie Bread and Butter Pudding, served with a jug of custard and the Homemade Raspberry Sherry Trifle proved very tasty. Plenty of sitting accommodation. The ambience was good.

“Great pub in a great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

Everything is good about Beer, the village that is, and this pub offers good food and drink. The beer garden over the road is the perfect place to relax and a warm day. This place is a must visit.
