Very high standard at this hotel, wich gave us a great relaxing holiday. The 2 pool areas made it possible to play with kids at one plays and relax at an other. great food, great rooms, great service, no complains!

Traveling in Crete and especially during July and August is not an easy matter. Sometimes the traffic or the overloaded infrastructure can make a travellers life complicated. When somebody wants to see things also in the vicinity and not stay all day in his hotel, than certainly many things are more important than a very good hotel.
Iolida is indeed a wonderful hotel in a very strategic location. Out of Chania City, on the beach and still close enough for visiting the city with bus, taxi or even the local street train.
The rooms are very spacious with a big bathroom, very ergonomic, they have a big tv, small oven, refrigerator, big closets and generally are perfect also for long stays. Breakfast is more then luxurious. Nevertheless living in the region can lead you to long nights, since the vicintiy is full with bar, restaurants and all possible things that could attract somebody going to bead early in the morning. So you might need to sleep until 12:00 and have a good breakfast - lunch at your balcony with a wonderful view at the Cretan See. Room service is possible but having something prepared at you own small kitchen maybe a better and cheaper solution. It is amazing, that the rooms are so quite and you really can't even think that you are living so close to all that happening during the night.
The room is by far in the luxury class, service is exceptional and fast, facilities, (pools, restaurant, reception, lobby, elevators) are well maintained, clean and nice designed.
Ending my review I would like to mention the low price we received without any special greek methods. The price was so low that we were thinking that something is or would go wrong. Bad guess and everything was perfect. Really amazed from the room, services and location without any kind of problem or disappointment.

In some of brochures this hotel have changed even its name for IOLIDA BEACH RESORT HOTEL. Hearing it you may expect; spacious hotel with a nice, long and rather wide beach. No, no! You are wrong! There is only app. 70 metres long narrow strip of sand and another strip of grass between pool and the beach. Imagine for the four hundred guests such a small place. Gym with rather devastated and not complete machines, and to make it even worse is located in the cellar without AC. There is no more (except the sea and corwded pools) attractions at all. But if you do not care for attractions, especially if you have small children or you have some of disability, try to take room in the older part of the hotel, than you will have all at once (beach, pool and restaurant).

Room Tip: Try to avoid this hotel if you plan to spend your holiday actively.

I was holiday with my family, and we don't really mind paying extra to have room as near as possible to the beach. Isn't that the whole point of a beach hotel? But it was not an option in this hotel. We were told all beach side rooms are fully booked by certain travel agencies for the whole season, so all other guests have to say in the second building. So although I had booked a studio with sea/pool view, we were given a room in another building on the other side of a road.

The pictures in the website they use to sell the room are not representing what you will get when you arrive. So don't get tricked by them. I should say this hotel is certainly FALSELY advertised in their webpage, and you are never told or shown what you will get in reality until you reach to the reception. In fact, they are legally obliged to tell and show what they will offer you realistically and openly before you book the room but they don't do that. So if a near beach room is important to you, make sure you don't fall into their trick as I did.

Additionally, in our reservation we had requested a higher floor room, but given a room in the first floor. What is really the meaning of a five star hotel, if the customer wishes are not taken into consideration? When I requested a change of the room at the reception it was not taken into consideration either. So no matter what you request from them, what you get will be what they already planned to give you. They have this "One size fits all" approach which is not good enough for a five star hotel.

However, I should say the rooms on the other side of the road are modern, comfortable and clean. So we had a comfortable stay, in a room which we were kind of forced to stay at our arrival. Internet can be problematic sometimes, but it worked okay most of the time.

I can rate the hotel facilities as 8/10. But it didn't change much of our disappointment, and the feeling of being cheated remained the same until we left.

I wouldn't stay there again myself, therefore I cannot recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: To choose a good room, confirm with the reception what you will get and where your room will be prio...

First impressions:
Very nice, this hotel was great for us (couple) looking for a quiet relaxing time.

Room:
Our room was located in the 2nd building. the room itself was really nice and clean with a hidden kitchen area. (fridge, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, hot plate cooker, safe, hairdryer, 2 air con units and a little porch area over looking the pool

Pool area:
Our pool area was used mainly by couples and couples with small babies - very quiet and no hotel music.
All of the bigger families went to the pool in the 1st building THANK GOD.
The room was cleaned every day but there's no do not disturb sign.

Food:
the food in the hotel in average and definitely overpriced,
We went to the supermarket for our breakfast/lunch and drinks and stocked up our fridge - which i highly recommend.

Location:
the hotel is about a 10/15min walk to Agia Marina "town" where most shops and restaurants are.
In the 7 days we were there we couldn't find 1 lively bar with music.
We ended up in a Reggae bar 1 night which was cool but very quiet and sombre.

**Overall i liked the hotel and would stay here again but only if it was in another location.

Room Tip: Go to the Supermarket to get snacks for day and drinks - the hotel snacks and drinks are not worth t...

Last week we visited this hotel for 1 week. Perfect hotel for this holiday. Close to the beach, 2 beautifull swimming pools with bar. And a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood. Our room had a small kitchen so we could have some food or drinks in our room. But with the happy hour at the bar every day not necessary.

The Iolida has a slightly strange set up, straddling a road although their is a bridge taking you from the main area to the beach and restaurant. The room I stayed is was huge with a kitchen and balcony overlooking the sea. The staff were very helpful, parking and free, high speed wi-fi were included. 30 minutes from Chania airport and 15 from Chania it is slightly away from the action at Chania although their are plenty of local shops and tavernas. Breakfast was served at the beach bar and was simple but typical for local hotels.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views of the sea
