Description: We are situated in the centre of the old village and have been here for many years. Our building is built entirely out of stone and wood which helps in setting an atmosphere of warmth and good taste. You may prefer to have your meal in our yard which is encircled by much green foliage and many colorful flowers. Our visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Greek dishes cooked in the wood oven. It is worth noting that some recipes are cooked and served in earthenware. The recipes in pottery is cooked over low heat and braise for some time in the oven, achieving the best result in taste. Using the wood oven for baking traditional recipes inclusion and baking pizza. The wood oven has the ability to literally transform the pizza making crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. This is because the temperature in the oven reaches 450 degrees Celsius.

Traditional family taverna which we've been visiting for years. You are always guaranteed a very good welcome. They have a large grill so expect good souvlaki etc. Most of the traditional Greek dishes that you would expect and all good quality. They are great with kids too.

It was absolutely the best taverna in Crete, where I visited! Amazing food and nice place to eat outside in the beautiful terrace. It was a pity that it was our last night in Agia Marina when we went there, otherwise we would have gone there more often for sure. Staff was very friendly and we got desserts and raki on the house. If you are close to Horiatiko, go there, you won't regret!

Had several meals at Horiatiko summer of 2012. Loved the food, the service, the extras you get every time and the cosy place. We ordered wine and beer and soda and got an extra round for free. Also got their special Ouzo and dessert for free. Such nice staff. Familyfeeling and so genuine. Food with love in it and true Greek!

The food and service are both very good.
If you order the bread you will receive butter, olive paste and a tomato salsa and boy are they delicious. The starters and main meals are also sizeable portions and well cooked. House red very acceptable,
Staff very welcoming, especially the owner and Petras(?) who delivers the drinks (water it is for the feeeesh!). A great character,
Take the road by the garage to the top, turn left, pass the one on the corner it is next door.

We spent an excellent week in Agia Marina last May, this year we are coming back and I just can't wait to dine in Horiatiko again. Food is excellent - everything is just perfect: fresh, very tasty, portions are huge, prices reasonable. The owner, the family and stuff (especially Petro) are very hospitable and nice.
The atmosphere is great - you will spend really nice time there. Evenings might be crowdy...
We used to get raki or sweets in the end of every meal, and it was always fresh and tasty.
(We ate a lot of things from the menu, and it was always excellent - meze, souvlaki, moussaka, briam, greek salad, tzatziki and a lot of other things). I know I'm raving about this place, but having been on other Greek Islands I had never found such a good place.
Highly recommended.
My tip for a lunch - to take a plate or two of different mezes' (antipasti) with fresh bread and sauces (one looks like tapenada) - an excellent range of little, tasty gems :)
