Pikera Uri was the perfect place to stay in Easter Island. The owner Pantu and the staff were very friendly, although very little English is spoken. The cabanas are located about a 10 minute walk from town, in a beautiful, peaceful setting with great ocean views(beach is only a 1-2 minute walk away). The rooms were spacious and clean, and breakfast was something we looked forward to every morning. We did a 1/2 day horseback tour, would definitely recommend! It was a great way to see the island, and they treat their horses very well. In all the exploring of Easter Island we did, we didn´t see a place that looked as nice as this. Also, very helpful with helping us to make calls, arrange transportation, etc.

"What a wonderful place! The setting is ideal: a peaceful garden oasis, with attentive service and delicious breakfast each morning-- all with a beautiful view of the ocean. A short walk along the coastline past moai takes you to the main town. I had a wonderful stay on Easter Island and definitely recommend that you consider staying here-- your host family is very welcoming."

Is a good option in Easter Island. The owner Pantu is great, the cabins are clean and great for a family or a couple. We traveled with our three children and we love easter island is an amazing place. The cabins are steps away from the sea and two moais platforms. Bring snacks ( Don't forget to bring the trash back in your suitcase)

We went for the Eclipse... Several friends decided to camp, but alas, they ended up booking nights at the cabin because we simply raved everyday about this fabulous property! The location was PERFECT! Just a 5-7minute walk into town through the Moai. We could HEAR the ocean from our bed! The room was clean and the breakfast was absolutely scrumpcious! We took a wonderful horse back ride to the top of the mountian. Pantu and his wife treated us like family and I can't wait to go back and do it all over again! I am a travel agent and HIGHLY recommend this property to travelers with children or for a romantic getaway! Check it out and ENJOY THE MAGIC!!

All in all this was probably the most disappointing place we stayed during our 2 week whistle-stop tour of Argentina and Chile. While the accomodation itself was clean, quiet and relatively spacious, the whole experience was really let down by the unwelcoming, verging on downright rude, attitude of the proprietor Pantu. Not sure what his problem was, and if it was with my two friends and I specifically as other reviews seem to suggest a more charismatic individual than the guy we had to interact with. I certainly dont think we did anything at all to rub him up the wrong way, but he was stand-offish from the start, and despite being in the courtyard when we left, didnt even muster up a goodbye! For US185 a night (for a triple room) it woudl have been nice to have got a smile, rather than the gruff, short interactions we had. It was almost as if he didnt stop walking whenever we spoke to him, so every time we wanted some advice or help (ie best place to get a guide (not that we found them through Pantu, but Toki Tours v good indeed incidentally - US200 for full day private tour of the SW of the island by Tommy, with good English and heaps of knowledge to impart) it felt like a race to get the info we needed before he disappeared.

Breakfasts fine, and the other ladies that work there very charming. Location not great, and although you get the peace and quiet of being out of town, think I would have sacrificed some of this to be a bit closer to town, as walking home in the dark across some fields was a bit of a pain.
