It is a simple, informsl, but friendly place with a nice view of the park and sea from across a quiet road. The service was very prompt and prices modest. The menu is quite limited, mostly empanadas and daily specials like spaghetti, but it is great for a quick bite to eat at lunch time and handy for Ahu Tahai. Even the cemetery en route to the Ahu is interesting. They don't take credit cards but do take dollars.

We had a very enjoyable lunch here on the way back to Hanga Roa from Ahu Tahai.

A shady, terraced eating area catches the sea breeze.

Very good juicy empanadas of meat and tuna, washed down with Escudo beer - very acceptable!

Tia Sofia's is a lovely little restaurant, good food, good prices.
We had empanadas (fish, tuna), roast beef - all tasted fresh, well prepared. Nothing gourmet, but delicious and filling. They fry the shell for the empanadas a bit, so a little different flavor than some other places.
The restaurant is across the street from the park along the coast where the Tapiti festival and sculpture competition is held. The restaurant is bulit over a rock outcropping (see picture) and so the seating area is terraced. This gives for a great view.
To get there, take Policarpo Toro street (the street along the coast) about a block north of the dive shops, the restaurant is on the right.
