Kaimana Inn has fairly basic hostel accommodation in Hanga Roa on Easter Island, but the host Marcelo and his staff make up for any deficiencies. Marcelo met us at the airport very late at night and showed us to our room. At first I was a bit surprised as it was not ultra cheap, but we didn't realise that we had arrived in the middle of the Tapati Festival. But after a very good sleep and a nice breakfast, a good strong hot shower and a Marcelo guided 'city tour', we fell in love with the place. Only six rooms which all open onto a common area where you eat breakfast and can relax during the day after sightseeing. There is also a restaurant and pub which are part of Kaimana Inn but are located away from the hostel area and so there is no human noise, just chickens and roosters. Easter Island is quite expensive, accommodation, food and touring as everything has to be brought in from the distant mainland. Give yourself at least three to four days there as there is a lot to see and do and in order to appreciate the island you shouldn't rush. Everything is a bit slow so just go with the flow. You can rent bikes or scooters, but I would recommend a small car as there are sudden thunder storms and the roads can become very muddy very quickly.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same

Rapa Nui (Easter Island) is one of the most unique places on this planet, and staying at the Kaimana Inn with Marcelo and his family made this experience even more unique than we had ever imagined. We came as tourists and left as what felt like being a part of this family. Our stay was very comfortable. The breakfast was hearty and healthy. The food at the Kaimana restaurant was absolutely superb. The hospitality was beyond compare. Marcelo makes things happen!!!! We had one of the best tours of the island. We had one of the best times and amazing food at Marcelo’s family house for his birthday!! Although Kaimana Inn does not face the water, it was not an issue for us at all. It is right on the main street, and literally 5 minutes’ walk from the water.
We highly recommend Kaimana Inn to anyone going to Rapa Nui. Wish we could be there right now.

Stayed there 4 nights in december, really liked the mellow vibe of the owners. Always there to help you, and even if they offer tours, they definitly don't push you to take one. We didn't take a tour , but instead rented a car, but some other guests there liked their tour with Marcelo...

Rooms are older but it's normal for such a remote place, and the place was really clean, room service really good (cleaned every day we were there)
Really quiet place, even with a young baby next to our room...
Internet is slow but you have to know where to stand and it's faster...
Met a lot of nice people from really varied coutries, made nice conversations in the morning while eating breakfast, which was delicious and filling (omelette, fruits, juices, french press coffees which is really appreciated in nescafe land!)
Highly recomman the place!

We had a pleasant and enjoyable stay at Kaimana Inn. Marcelo, the manager, and his wife take great care of their guests; they help arrange
tours of the island as well as run the Inn. The Inn is small with only a few rooms for guests, but this means the service is more personal
and friendly. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, and is located close to the center of town and not far from the beach. This is great
as there are several good restaurants close by as well as souvenir shops, etc. Marcelo prepared an excellent breakfast for us which
prepared us well for the rest of the day. Rapa Nui is a wonderful place to visit. I would recommend a stay of about 5 days - in that amount of
time you can see most of the main attractions. If you choose Kaimana Inn you won't be disappointed.

We got a very friendly and personal welcome, including pick up from the airport. Good info about the island, which the owner took us through while we were drinking our welcome drink. The accommodation was simple, but satisfactory. Large comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. Large room and reasonably priced minibar (1,000 CLP for drinks). Breakfast was good - ham, cheese, fruit and omelette with juice and coffee. Good location right off the main street, with parking if you have hired a car. There is a hot tub, but it was not in use as far as we could tell. Nice sitting area. We also ate in the adjacent restaurant one night, which was fine. Wifi was very patchy/slow, but that may be an island issue rather than this hotel. The owner had said he would drive us to the airport, but he had not arrived 20 minutes after the arranged time, so we got a taxi - it's easily walkable without suitcases. Price was reasonable, especially compared to the competition. Discount for paying cash USD, as elsewhere in Chile.
