Stopped here late one evening as we were touring Northern Holland. Room access was just like an budget American motel .. Thankfully, it was not raining..the room was warm and spacious with twin bunk beds, obviously set up for families .the bathroom was also spacious with plenty of hot water.
However , extra pillows and duvets were left in the wardrobe with any any protection cover.
We had a meal in the restaurant just off the bar..we found the menu expensive ...€24.50 for a mixed grill ?? . The receptionist/ server was lovely and made us feel welcome .as I said, no major gripes but it was ok for one night. Would I return ? Probably not!

There are not many options in Pieterburen if you want to book ahead, which since we didn't have a car we felt was a must for us. If you are risky and want to try your luck, it seems you can get good deals in the area as many of the houses seem to double as bed and breakfasts or pensions. We booked a wadlopen package through hotel Waddenweelde.

The staff was very friendly, and when we saw the alarm clock in the room was broken and told them they got us a nice new one. Still, though, the room was not that of a three star hotel. It was more comparable to a Motel 6 in America. There were tons of mosquitoes, and we spent half the night getting bitten up. Plus there was no real sheet, just a quilt cover, so the options were either being super hot or too cold (and getting bitten more). I don't know if I would stay here again. The staff seemed to care and tried to do a good job, but for what you're getting the price should be lower.

Having been cycling all day we were looking forward to a good night's rest at Hotel Waddenweelde.

First impressions were not good. The hotel reception area was lined with shelves selling cheap deck shoes. Worse was to come. On checking in, they told us that they were full and did not have a room. This was despite us having booked over two months earlier, and having received confirmation. The receptionist would give no reason. It's clear to me that because we had booked for one night only, they had decided to give our room to someone who wanted to book for a longer period. If we had not turned up, we would have had to pay the full charge of 87.50 Euros. But no such sanctions for them.

So book here at your peril! It was back on the bikes for us,
