We just spend a week at La Macchiola and I must say we have had a very good time, but the setting was different from what we expected. Somehow we associated a working olive farm with something in the middle of nowhere with many fields around. But the farm is actually in the middle of a small (lovely) village and there is not much greenery around. It has a courtyard (in which we spent most of our time), a swimming pool (that was not open yet though) and a garden across the road (that was not really operational either). The countryside is a few kilometres away, but don't imagine you will step out of your apartment into the olive groves because this is not the case. Anna (the owner) is very friendly and helpful. We also really liked the village, it was very small but had everything we needed and some beautiful old buildings. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quiet vacation in an authentic Italian village.
