Pottery House Loch Ness B&B
Ranked #2 of 5 Dores B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 30, 2013

We visited Loch Ness few weeks ago, we stayed at the Pottery House in Dores.
The house was second to none, perfect location, awesome rooms, wonderful home cooked breakfast, the facilities and space anyone could wish for and wonderful hosts to bring it all together into a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable stay.
John & Glen are very knowledgeable of all the area, we followed every advice given to us by them and we visited some of the most beautiful sites in the Highlands.
We couldn't recommend this more highly.

Thank you John & Glen,

Tom & Monica

This was our favorite place out of the 4 B&Bs we stayed at during our Scotland trip. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The service was 5 star (6 if it went that high). They had delicious cup-cakes in our room as a welcome gift. The room was spotless and very comfortable with a great view of the loch. Water was hot and plenty of pressure, radiators were warm on command.

Breakfast was delicious with fresh eggs from their own chickens. All in all, the best experience we had in Scotland.

Imagine, after a long day driving and sightseeing to drive up the hill to a very welcoming greeting by John. It was cold and wet and we were taken to our spacious and warm rooms to enjoy afternoon tea. Just wonderful. The new beds were so comfortable and the breakfast was fresh with home made breads and jams and all the other trimmings. Just idyllic with the best if Scottish hospitality. Beautiful gardens in full bloom and woods where we could see the deer topped it all off. Thanks for such a wonderful stay for our second visit.

It is my pleasure to write about our enjoyable stay at Pottery House. Glen and John were gracious and welcoming hosts to my wife and and to me. The accommodations were all that we had hoped for and more. The house and grounds were beautiful. Their recommendations for lunch and dinner were equally enjoyable.

We enjoyed the delicious breakfast and conversation with our hosts and the other guests. I particularly liked being able to see local birds I would otherwise not have seen, right outside the dinning room window. The grounds were beautiful including the chickens who provided us with fresh eggs for breakfast.

The awards that Pottery House displays are well deserved. It was well worth the trip from Virginia, USA to Inverness and we highly recommend Pottery House for your next vacation. It was a memorable way to start our tour of Scotland.

My husband and I had stayed in a few places in Scotland before we arrivec at the Pottery House. We found a quaint bed and breakfast run by two great people. The room was clean, big, bright and comfortable. Th e breakfast was cooked with fresh ingrediants, including eggs from the chickens in the back yard. This is a place we wilk definitely be back to.
John and Glen thought of everything, including the cupcakes as a special treat after supper.

I dont normally write reviews but signed up just to write a review for here.
We stayed for 5 days and loved every second of it!
When we arrived we were greeted by John who led us to our room,
We stayed in the deluxe room which was like a small apartment, the bed was incredibly comfy, the room was very tidy. The view of the loch is simply stunning!

For breakfast you had the usual full breakfast and veggie breakfast but also cereals, yoghurt, make your own muesli, toast, home made bread (a must try) and a new option everyday i.e. french toast, pancakes etc.

Right outside the breakfast area was bird feed which welcomed lots of weird and wonderful birds of all spieces a welcome view during breakfast.

Other things worth noting:

John and Glenn are very welcoming and friendly, offering fantastic advice to sightseers.

Transport - if you dont have a car i advise you hire one, everything is spaced out and impossible to walk to, it costs around £12-16 in a taxi to inverness (off peak) and the bus is only once every 2 hours (4 buses a day each way)

Wifi - free wifi on site plus conputer for guests,

Wildlife - i spotted many birds, deer and red squirrels, there were sightings of golden eagles, sparrow hawks and pine martins whilst i was there

TV - freeview channels and built in dvd player

Overall - excellent in everyway, the true loch ness/scottish experience

We had a very long but scenic drive to this B&B and I was exhausted and quite frazzled from the drive, but more about that later. So when we arrived to see a spotless, comfortable and beautifully decorated room all my stresses and tiredness just melted away. John and Glen had thought of everything! There was a lovely vase of daffodils on the window ledge, plenty of towels, fresh milk in the fridge and 2 delicious cupcakes in the room waiting for us to make a cup of tea.
The bed was super comfortable, the sheets fresh and smelt divine and the pillows just perfect. The room was spacious and the bathroom huge!
We could see the loch through the trees and despite the pouring rain we headed out for a lovely walk along the waters edge.
The breakfast next morning was so delicious, especially their home made bread!! Glen was super lovely and chatting to him was a great start to the day.
I highly recommend you stay here, you will love it.
My only gripe is that it would be helpful to know beforehand that the road leading to it from Fort William is for about 13 miles so narrow and curvy that it can be quite slow going. It didn't help that it snowed and we had hired a tiny car that really struggled. You could tell who the locals were as they were coming toward us at high speed and I really wasn't comfortable despite the beautiful scenery. We left via Inverness which is a much better road.
