Visited in a last week of February. Arrived at the best time, we had week of great sun!
Hotel itself is much better than I was expecting.
Staff very friendly, especially the entertainment guy, which name I forgot now, and bar/restaurant girl-raquelle! The nicest people.
The whole place was spotless. Could not complain about that at all! They clean the rooms 5 times in one week stays. So that's covered. Pool area, very clean. Again, people out there first thing cleaning it. Restaurant, very clean. Plenty off food, good selection, lovely cooked. Plenty of snacks in the bar area in between the mealtimes.
The only thing I'm going to mention that I was not happy about... They advertise themselves as having 2 kids clubs. When I was booking I asked if those run all the time, not just half term holidays. I was advised that those are all year round. I asked about it on the arrival and was told there isn't one. So bit upset as chose this hotel mainly because of the kids entertainment program and kids club. Could've gone to the hotel that was cheaper, closer to the airport but choose this one for one reason only. And they disappointed. They should make that clear on their website... kids Club only in the summer...
And the other thing... hotel is miles away from the airport. You'd need €60 for taxi or €14 per person for shuttle that hotel can book for you. That's just one way.

After finding El Cotillo on another holiday to Fuerteventura, we decided to have a full weeks holiday there this year - as it is a lovely little place with beautiful beaches and stunning views. After reading the mixed reviews, we decided to give Cotillo Beach the benefit of the doubt and stay all inclusive.

What a mistake! We may as well stayed elsewhere at a cheaper price, self catering as we ended up eating out every meal every day! We did not even eat breakfast there as the food was so dire and I would not call us particularly picky or finicky. I have eaten in better works canteens!

Cotillo Beach must have been gorgeous when it was first built, but underinvestment and decline is evident throughout. Cracked tiles, sun beds and towels that look as old as the building, gardens that were planted so carefully, now unkempt and full of weeds. Hot water that took forever to trickle through, peeling doors and paintwork - the whole place feels neglected and uncared for.

The only redeeming features are; 1. The staff, hard working and friendly and 2. The resident 3 white cats who enjoy lounging around the reception area and are quite happy to be fussed - very funny watching people perched on the edge of their seats, so as not to disturb the sleeping cats.

As to the actual rooms; no tea and coffee making facilities, no fridge, no heating (cool weather made this required) only one pillow on each bed and towels and a blanket each, that had seen better days. We even had to ask for a PLUG to use the sink or bath - only one supplied BTW - and the room smelt and felt rather damp. Again, the lack of investment meant the room called out for TLC and with loose wires hanging down from where there must have once been lights, made the neglect palatable.

Finally to the 'all inclusive' firstly, I have never, ever had to pay supplements to be able to drink anything - even local beer at a bar before! You had to pay extra for the tv remote, safe, wifi - almost everything seemed to be geared at exploiting the Hotels captive market.

So, no - I would not return and would not recommend Cotillo Beach to anyone - stay elsewhere and use the money you save on trying some of the splendid local restaurants- especially the lovely local patisserie El Goloso del Cotillo - our breakfast destination each morning.

Room tip: Look elsewhere! No lifts for disabled access

Came back yesterday from this hotel and found it a very nice hotel apart from the restaurant and the night bar.the rooms are kept nice and clean and the staff are very helpful.so on to the restaurant it was a total shambles.not enough staff to tidy tables away and to top up the poor choice of food.the chef in the morning who was doing fried eggs and pancakes also was bringing food and clearing away empty trays so always burn the eggs and pancakes to a black state then would put them on the trays for people to eat.me and my partner Wondered why at opening time they was queuing to get in and after a couple a days I new why coz you had to get in there quick to get hot food so if you go on holiday to eat good range of food don't go here.the night bar was run by kids who cudnt remember what went into cocktails my partner found one which you don't have to pay for on a all inclusive holiday how strange haha.she had 3 in one night and was made different each time by the same girl.so if this hotel could sort out the restaurant and bar it would be a very nice hotel to stop at but until then don't..
