The restaurant overlooks the old harbour, with all the rocky charm of a mediterranean-fishing village and perfect for sunset. The king prawns were indeed regal, the salad was wrapped in a delicate full length slice of cucumber, the tuna was rare and delectable, and the service was excellent.

We ate here on a Weds lunch time and it was busy. The setting is great looking out to the bay. Our food was really good. Avocado starter and Paella. The house white wine by the glass was also decent. Service spot on.

This was our first ever trip to Fuerteventura. We had never heard of 'La Vaca Azul' before we stumbled across it accidentally whilst exploring El Cotillo. Therefore my review is completely unbiased.

On Boxing Day we hired a car and drove firstly to Betancuria from Caleta de Fuste and then on to El Cotillo. As we walked round we noticed La Vaca Azul restaurant. It was the afternoon and I fancied a cup of tea which I wasn't too sure we could have as it is obviously more of a restaurant for lunch and dinner. However the waiters and waitresses were charming and said that tea would be no problem. The tea pots were a little on the small side by English standards but I had them topped up. We also chose the three desserts they had on offer which were a berry cheesecake that looked and tasted homemade, a tart of the day which was apple with ice cream and crema catalana (which cost 4 euros). At the time I did not realise that the chef was French; it is hardly surprising that they were all absolutely delicious.

The next day we drove to Corralejo. By the time we got there it was lunch time so we decided, instead of having lunch at La Vaca Azul, it would be more sensible to have lunch in one of the numerous restaurants in Corralejo. We returned to El Cotillo and La Vaca Azul in the afternnon.

We managed to sit at one of the few tables outside again with the beautiful view of the sea. This time I noticed a young couple who wanted to sit at a table as near to the sea as possible but all the tables were taken. A young waiter carried a table and two chairs outside especially for them. Shortly afterwards another couple left the table next to them so they moved back one table. The waiter removed the table and chairs which he had brought out. How obliging is that and what amazing service.

If the desserts are anything to go by, the main meals are probably equally as good. To the French chef: your .crema catalana is to die for, which means just the best – délicieux, merci beaucoup.
