Gasthof Jagerhaus
Reviewed April 6, 2013

This was our second trip to Immenstadt. It is a lovely area with a nice trail around the lake for a gentle walk or bike ride, and there is a lot of fun to be had taking the lift up the mountain and the LONG roddlebahn back down. While up there, you can have lunch, listen to live music, hike up higher (and stop for drinks and snacks at another little family run place higher up) or even enjoy a ropes course in the trees. It is a fun town for a weekend visit.

This is the nicer of the two places we have stayed in the area. We had a quad room and were very surprised at how big it was. There was a small first room with one twin bed in it and the larger main room had a double bed, twin bed and table for four with plenty of space to maneuver around it all and a large wardrobe. There was also a good sized deck with 4 chairs and two round tables.

Everything was VERY clean and there were no lingering "old hotel" odors or smells of cigarette smoke, etc.

The towels were older and thin and the down pillows were too flat--but those are the only minor issues--and we couldn't beat the price and really appreciated the spaciousness and cleanliness as well as the very friendly owners.

Breakfast was included and was a good sized buffet of a typical German nature. Tea or coffee (your choice) was brought to the table and juice was on the buffet. There were rolls, butter, nutella and jams, yogurt, granolas, soft boiled eggs, deli meats and cheese, and fresh fruit.

We ended up eating both our dinners there was well. The prices were good, the portions HUGE (think American style) and the food and service very good. We priced some other local places for the second night, but decided that the menu and the prices at the Jagerhaus were more appealing.

The Jagerhaus is DIRECTLY across the street from the lift and Roddelbahn--making it very convenient to visit.

Overall, I can really recommend this place as long as you are up for "traditional German" (no fancy TVs, no wi-fi, those older towels). It is long on charm and value and short on problems.

I have stayed here with friends several times. The owners - Peter and Silke - are excellent hosts. Peter is a first-class chef; I've always had good meals here. The breakfasts are continental-style, but with extras such as eggs, yoghurt, fruit etc.
The rooms are kept clean and spotless.
I use it as a base for walking in the mountains - several cable cars are within a short car journey (it's also on a bus route for public transport). I haven't stayed in winter, but I would expect it to be an ideal location if you wanted to ski different mountains.
Lake Constance is little more than an hour away - I can recommend a day trip down there including a ferry crossing to Switzerland.

I have been staying at the Jaegerhaus for the last 5 or 6 years and always look forward to my next trip. A very warm welcome awaits, friendly service and a nice homely atmosphere. The Jaegerhaus is in a very beautiful location very close to the Grosse Alpsee and perfect for day trips to the mountains and the Kleinwalsertal in particular. We have also completed day trips to Lake Constance as well. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, most with lovely baconies, the breakfasts are super with a good selection of food which makes a great start to the day. The evening meals are particularly good - the owner is a super chef - wide choice, plenty of food and great value. A nice way to round off the day with a beer or two. No hesitation at all about recommending the Jaegerhaus - I shall be back there in August!
