“Great stay!”
Reviewed February 20, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Cute little cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds. Cottage itself was a good size and well equipped. Some nice extras provided by the host too! Good DVD player and small selection of games and books to keep you occupied! Well located, close to the small high street that had a good selection of shops and restaurants. Would definitely go back again!

“Perfect Cotswolds Getaway at Plum Tree Cottage”

We have recently returned from a week at Plum Tree Cottage in Lechlade (our 4th stay in 4 years) and we cannot wait to return again next year!! This delightful cottage is the perfect base for exploring The Cotswolds.

The Cottage itself is in a very quiet and peaceful location but less than a 5 minute walk from the beautiful shops, pubs ands restaurants situated in the centre of Lechlade. The cottage is very tastefully decorated with exposed ceiling beams and wooden and stone flooring. Such a comfortable and relaxing cottage too with good quality furniture, beds etc...There are also things like milk in the fridge when you arrive and coffee, tea, jam, mustard, oil and sauces etc. There is also a garden room at the bottom of the mature and very attractive garden which contains a washing machine, a toilet and hand basin aswell as other useful bits and pieces to make your stay more enjoyable. The garden is a haven for lots of wild birds and one or two squirrels too! The village is surrounded by a very attractive landscape which has dedicated walks along the river Thames and through fields and meadows. Lechlade is also in the heart of The Cotswolds Water Park which is just filled with lakes and ponds that are home to many different species of birds, insects and animals. After a walk along the river Thames its nice to have a rest at The Riverside Inn which is situated beside The Halfpenny Bridge in Lechlade and enjoy a fine lunch and a few drinks or perhaps visit The Christmas Shop which is just filled with all the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas!! Its strange walking into here in mid July when the weather is hot outside! There are also a few craft shops in Lechlade along with several eating places. We recommend Colleys, Pinos Italian and Khushi Indian restuarants for fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Besides The Riverside Inn there are several other good pubs in Lechlade one of which, The Crown Inn, has its own micro brewery and produces its own ale which is also sold by the bottle in the well stocked mini supermarket just around the corner. If you fancy going further afield you could visit Burford, Stow on the Wold, Chipping Norton or Cirencester all of which are within 20 miles of the cottage and filled with craft shops, cafes and delicatessens. Really beautiful places that are surrounded by stunning views across The Cotswolds.

We love this part of the country so much that we just have to return every summer and Plum Tree Cottage is the only place that makes this experience so perfect.

Love this beautiful cottage , it is child friendly, very clean and well equipped, open fire, oven, microwave, dishwasher all mod cons and wii- fii, outside room has toilet, washing machine, extra table and chairs and real fire, sun loungers. Inside has two bedrooms , 1 double and 1 single room, bathroom has a power shower and bath. The owner leaves treats for her guests and basic food . Cottage has wildlife and is very pretty with shrubs and patio table and chairs. Lechlade has a Christmas Shop, lovely pubs our favourite is the Riverside Pub, wine shop ,butchers , retro sweet shop, nature walks, nice shops , Chip shops, Italian ,American and Indian Restaurants , a backdrop to the beautiful Cotwolds which has many water parks, a zoo lots of tourist attractions. I have been returning to this beautiful cottage for four years and there is all plenty to do and new places to visit, This cottage is one of the best I have ever stayed in.

We only stayed for two nights but found the cottage to be everything we wanted. It was cosy, clean and very well equipped. Shops, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. Wonderful location for a walking holiday. We would love to return for a longer visit.

“The perfect holiday cottage - wholeheartely recommended!”

Plum Tree Cottage is the best holiday rental we've ever stayed at. It is genuinely perfect in every way!

There were fresh flowers when we arrived and milk in the fridge as well as a whole host of other condiments and necessities available (mustard, jam, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, flour, nice coffee, tea, marmite, HP and tomato sauce etc). Not only is it well thought out in terms of what you need, all the fixtures, furniture and equipment are of very good quality - John Lewis seems to be the standard here! It is also spotlessly CLEAN.

The cottage is charming and we loved the whole feel of the place - from the beautiful exposed beams in the bedrooms to the cosy fireplace with wood burning stove. The little garden is lovely and we even enjoyed a morning coffee outside in the sun one day.

The location is also perfect - lots of good walks on the doorstep (a good selection are included in the information provided as well as maps), great selection of places to eat, great pubs (be sure to visit The Crown Inn for great beer - from their own micro-brewery no less, open fires and live music) and great shops to poke about in all within two minutes walk from the cottage.

Really lovely find, in a really lovely little town. Now to persuade the grandparents to look after the kids again so we can go back!
