The room (number 7) was wonderfully clean and warm with a very comfortable bed and beautiful shower room. Bottled water beside the beds and unlimited free tea and coffee were all lovely touches. We had a fantastic lunch and also dinner. The restaurant is very ambient, the service impeccable and the food nice. The hake I had for main lacked a little flavour but the other dishes were very good. The ingredients are obviously of the highest quality and this was really appreciated.
Sadly, the pub has a few, easily remedied, things that mean it's not quite 5 stars: the juice at breakfast was very much a supermarket carton of juice from concentrate, the range of cereals was quite uninspiring (weetabix, cornflakes or plain granola) (although the croissants, jams and cooked breakfast were absolutely delicious) and our room, with a window overlooking the car park, was extremely loud at the pub closing time - we were kept awake for a good half an hour with a lot of shouting outside.
Regardless of these things, this is a very very special place in a beautiful setting and if these small niggles were fixed, it would easily be 5 stars and a special mention must be made to the staff who were fantastic.More
