This is a very popular old pub and has good accommodation at the back of the property, which is modern and very stylish decorated in neutral tones. Plenty of parking is available for guests at the rear of the property as the pub stands on the edge of the road. The food in the pub is excellent quality and well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.

Lovely old pub in pretty village. Good food and beer with very helpful staff. Even the screaming brat at the table opposite didn't put us off! Certainly would return.

We travelled for forty five minutes to the Village Pub as we were celebrating our friends birthday. He had previously worked in the area and this had been his favourite eating place. The place was a hub of activity with every table occupied. We sat down and were shown the menu and the wine list. We decided to order the wine and then relax before making our food choice. The waiters/waitresses were run off their feet. Eventually we managed to get the attention of one of them and ordered our drinks. We waited a good fifteen minutes before our drinks arrived with an apology that it was really busy. We scanned the menu and when the waiter arrived he stated that a lot of the food that was on the menu had run out. We opted for three fish and chips and the leg of lamb. When the food did eventually arrive our friend could not believe how small the portions had become. He stated that previously the fish had covered the plate and the chips too plentiful to fully consume. This certainly was not the case this time. Very meagre portions. I had the leg of lamb which also came with chips. It looked appetising but it was very chewy. I had to remove the fat etc delicately using a serviette. I left most of the meal under the serviette. We did not bother staying for the customary pudding and coffee as we all thought we wanted to leave as soon as possible. Not a pleasant dining experience when it was a birthday celebration.Had it not been a celebratory dinner I would have asked to speak to the manager but I felt this was not the occasion to do so.
