As always, a delicious meal. We shared a seafood platter, tucked into a steak & squeezed in a pud. All perfectly cooked. It's definitely high end pub food but it's all freshly prepared, good quality & locally sourced where possible. Yum!

Lovely and not as stuffy as across the road.
Very quiet when we went but attentive staff, good food and good value

We were recommended to visit the Village pub by friends the setting is quite tranquil in a Cotswold stone village close to Barnsley House Hotel (Formerly Rosemary Verey the garden designers house).
The interior of the pub is quite dark and slightly imposing.
The starter of Cornish fish soup and twice baked cheese souffle was fantastic.
The main course was fillet steak with thrice fried chips and peppercorn sauce, this was very disappointing and we all felt the same about our main courses.
We shared two desserts which were o.k but not very exciting.
It was an expensive evening as we shared a taxi to and from the Village pub and left feeling very despondent with the evening.

Our party was "squeezed in" having pre-booked. First hiccup presented, was the fryer had gone down, this limited the menu. Waiter hovered whilst we picked alternative meals that did not involve the fryer. I chose "stuffed artichoke". We amused ourselves drinking over priced wine and beer (by the glass). 5o minutes later we had to remind the waiter that no meals had appeared, they did so in 5 minutes after that. Artichoke so stringy not edible. In spite of being offered an alternative meal, I lost the will to eat. The others at our table ate their mediocre meals, paid the disproportionately high bill and left.

The most discouraging thing about the whole experience, was that having sent a letter later to The Village Inn Bradley Cirencester relating the experience, no response was ever received. I suppose The Village Inn propitious in it's marketing, is too posh and beyond accountability when failing.
