The hotel is in need of some modernisation. Even though I paid extra for a room with a view, the rooms have rather small windows and you do not get much of a view. The location is nice though, and the staff are extremely nice and polite. Late at nights when the guests leave, sometimes it is very noisy.

Room Tip: This is not really a five star hotel, perhaps more a high class three star, or four star. The five s...

I travel mostly constantly and the Chateau do Lac is an oasis in a chaotic world. Set among the trees on a beautiful little lake, it offers a chance to breath. The facility is perfectly located easy out of the drama of Brussels. Friendly staff and the food in the restaurant is wonderful. I suggest a room on the back of the hotel facing the trees vs a view room as the noise from the road is a bit much if you are one to open your window for fresh air. The gym is very nice but at 30 Euro for the stay, is only reasonable if you are there for several days. A wonderful place to stay for business or for a get-away.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the back of the hotel if you like to open your window at night. If you do not open...

What a lovely quiet spot. This is a large hotel with a friendly, welcoming staff and excellent public rooms. We had the 'Brusselicious' Package - a one night deal.
When booked I took it to include a 'Charming' room, breakfast, a
gift pack of beer and choclates, and a 3 course dinner at a fixed rate.
On check-out I was surprised to find dinner was included. What a bargain!
The room was large and comfortable though, as it was at the rear, the only view was of the perimeter trees. No real problem.
The decor of peach was a bit dated, and the bathroom needed new sealant around the bath and a small amount of de-moulding, but they are minor gripes.
Dinner was fine with relaxed service. Breakfast was superb. One of the best selections I've ever seen, including a hot selection in warmers. The food was hot when we served ourselves, obviously I don't know if that is the norm.
We used this as a stopover on a trip to Eastern Holland and would certainly use it again.

The hotel is located in area with view of a small lake. Though it looks grand on the outside, you are quickly brought back to earth when you go through the coridors looing for your room. The elevator is in need of an overhaul- as are the rooms.
Having said that, the place is charming and tidy. Nothing fancy. No idea how come they manage to keep a 5 star rating. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for something different to the standard business hotel and want to pay the same price- this is the place to go!

Room Tip: Make sure you negotiate a decent price for breakfast! Make sure you get a room with a view of the la...

We had seen this hotel on one of our tours of the area and from the outside it looked like a top class hotel in a nice environment. So, as a weekend away from the kids, we booked one of their Spa & Relaxation packages (the more expensive one that includes dinner). We do this a couple of times per year, so we have some comparison material. The experience the Chateau du Lac was OK, but not great. Bottom line we felt the whole place lacks inspiration.

The Spa treatment was OK, but the Spa area lacks atmosphere, the staff made the impression they were not looking forward to the rest of their workday and the pool is just cramped and noisy. The rooms were decent size but looked like they were copied from a random business hotel. The hotel staff was friendly enough, but the doorman took our luggage (at the door, not from the car), dropped it next to the reception desk and that was it. Dinner was OK, but nothing special. Breakfast was actually not bad. The area is nice for walks, but it helps to do a little homework, otherwise you're stuck with a 20 min. walk around the lake. It's a bit far from Brussels etc. so you'll need a car.
Chateau du Lac pretends to be a top class hotel, but when you scratch the surface i'ts just nothing special. It was worth a try, but we won't be back.

Ok, we had a deal with a group of thirty or so and that was reasonable but that's where it ended ..... The rooms were ok but but basic. Ours had problems with the drains and we had an awful smell that did not get resolved - waste pipes and wc pan gurgled constantly and next doors bubble bath came up our bath plug hole one morning...

The food was generally good and dining room fine but portions were skimpy and anyone arriving after 9am would be likely to miss the bacon. Some basic breakfast foods would run out every day or were missing to start. Dinner was fine if you were on a diet - very expensive and small portions. Most of the local restaurants are owned by the hotel so no escape there either...all were good but it was clear that from once you're at the lake you're captive and ripe for plucking.

The bar was more expensive than central Brussells with Gin & Tonic and the like @ €10 and beers from €7. Service too, was dreadful, certainly not five start - with poorly trained staff, who wouldn't hold a job in a McDonalds, unable to cope - most of our group felt unhappy about this aspect of the place especially...

That said the staff were nice and friendly and the place is georgeous so if one wanted a relaxing break then it's worth considering....but bring some food and drink with you and relax in your room or by the lake.......

I've been here to instruct a workshop. My room was on the other side of the hotel. On my way from this side of the hotel to the restaurant on the other side NO staff member greeted me! What an icecold atmosphere!
Hotel room: Almost perfect, but with dirty curtains and holes in the curtain - not appropriate for a 5* hotel! Restaurant: Food quality was very good; wine presentation and testing of evry new expensive bottle has lots of room for improvement.
