“BEST WEEKEND AWAY TO DATE”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

Absolutely loved the lake cottage! Stunning views and great spa. Cottage was very secluded and was a dream waking up to nothing but songs of the wild birdlife. Extremely comfortable bed too! Louise and Trevor were both very helpful in every way, they made sure everything was perfect!

Thanks for your positive comments, Dean. The bird life up here is amazing and their morning calls are a nice way to wake up.... one of the benefits of having a rainforest just below the cottages.

Had an absolutely fantastic time there. The cottages were lovely, well furnished, tasteful and complete. Trevor and Louise could not have done enough for us and the advice they gave us was appropriate and relevant. The breakfast hamper with all local goods was a perfect final touch. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: All are good! we stayed in Fern Cottage, the littlest one and it was spectacular !

Thanks for your kind comments about Montville Grove, Danielle. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and the local produce in our complimentary breakfast hamper. We're lucky to live in an area with a local dairy, yoghurt makers, cheese makers, our Montville baker who bakes a delicious white sourdough every day (our daily bread!) and a butcher who smokes his own bacon. It's a great place to live - or visit - if you love food. Louise and Trevor

We had a lovely Easter long weekend at Montville Grove. All three units were fully occupied - but the only way you could tell this was the cars were in their carpark! We never saw or heard anyone else. Waking up to the sound of a variety of birds in the morning was beautiful as was eating out on the deck. The breakfast provisions were ample - and carried us easily through the time we stayed - with some left over - delicious and lovely that local produce is used (as the area is rich in a wide variety of produce). We stayed in the Fern cottage and it was compact but had everything you could need (and more!). Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Thanks for taking the time to post a review on our cottages and for sharing your photos. The bird in the photos is either a green catbird or a female bower bird. We've just found a bower tucked in the garden and decorated with blue clothes pegs so the bower birds obviously appreciate Montville Grove as a romantic getaway too!
And thanks for the feedback about only noticing the other guests by their cars in the car park. We've designed the cottages and garden to maximise privacy so it's good to know that's working.

Had one lovely night here recently. Even though it rained constantly it only adds to the beauty of the area. The cottages are very secluded nestled amongst rainforest, very tastefully decorated and roomy (enough for two).
Lovely touches like port, chocolate and breakfast hamper using local prouduce - yum. We were needing a quiet spot away from the city and I was running out of options (most places booked) but luckily found that there was one night available here at the eleventh hour. So glad that we found it...just beautiful. If you are looking for somewhere peaceful to unwind with beautiful surroundings and accommodation you don't need to look any further than Montville Grove.

March 2012 visit in the pooring rain - you'd think the rain would make a for a bad holiday?
you could of asked for better, dripping water on the rainforest, views down into the valley looking at the lake that were misty and had clouds in a mongst, (we stayed in the avocado cottage) thats the view... the cottage itself was amazing... port, wine, chocolates, the loveliest breakfast hamper (cooked breakfast) including orange juice and yogurt (my favourite). nothing has been forgotten, we'd even forgotten our umbrella - there was one there for us. and then you have the owners - louise and trevour. we spent a good 20mins with them listening about there places to see /things to do in the local area, the knowledge is extensive and we saw some of the reccomended ones on there advice and there descriptions were spot on and we loved every bit of it!!

Room Tip: we stayed in the avocado room, im sure that any one would of been lovely.

January saw a return visit to this wonderful part of the world. Tried a different season and we weren't disappointed, never experienced so much rain but it was awesome. Montville Grove was first class from start to finish hated having to leave. Refurbished cottages that offered such indulgence, surrounds so private green and lush - a far cry from the dry wheatbelt of WA and hosts who were helpful and happy to have us there and of course the quaint main street of Montville. Can't wait to go back again.

After a harrowing flight, an argument with car hire 'person" the drive to Montville was pleasant enough in itself but then you get there and..... words are simply inexplicable. We stayed in the Fern Cottage and for two people who are addicted to technology (Iphones, internet, email etc 24/7) all gadgets were turned off within 2 minutes of arrival. You DO NOT want the outside world to come in and spoil this magical slice of heaven... The actual sound of peace and quiet - nature at its best - (and not from a CD on a player), rain falling on the roof and the internal decor - all the magical ingredients for romance for even the most hardended of hearts and weariest of travellers.. In the morning, I awoke to find my partner smiling, happy that I had had the best night's sleep for the whole trip. We then sat on the verandah area, in complete privacy and had an actual conversation with one another.... we all know what that is worth! Highly recommended and I cant wait to go back, one night was great; cant wait for a few days of heaven... ( Oh and if you leave something behind they owners are only too happy to post it to you at home - gorgeous people)

Room Tip: Just explain to Louise and Trevor what you are looking for and they will deliver...
