Stayed 1 night for a conference at the hotel. Very modern, including the bedrooms and bathrooms. Be prepared to book in advance, since on this Tuesday the hotel was full. Restaurant also good, not a cherry on the appelmoes in sight!

Room Tip: If you want coffee and tea facilities choose the executive room

Stated for two nights
When compared to a hotel in the uk of the same room rate, this hotel is very good value for money.
Rooms very large, modern and very comfortable.
No coffee or tea making facilities in the room but room service is available with a tray charge of 7.50
Good bar/restaurants .
I will be staying here again.

Instead of staying at my mum and dad's while visiting the Netherlands we sometimes stay here for a few days. It is a real treat! Rooms are very nice and modern. Breakfast is great, kids love it. Not a holiday location but very convenient for Rotterdam.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Had a Executive Room at the top floor with whirlpool but in the future a Atrium Room will do as well, because the whirlpool is a bit noisy.
The beds are very comfy and the breakfast is excellent. Staff is very nice and helpfull.
Hotel is near Rotterdam. The southside is just a few minutes away and the city centre can be reached within 15 minutes by car or half an hour by public transport.
Will be staying here again when we visit family in Holland.
TIP: Search the internet for cheaper bookings. We stayed two nights in the Executive room for only 135 € including breakfast with two persons, and next time will only be 85 € for two nights and two persons in the Atrium Room including breakfast. Certainly less than it is worth.

Review Van der Valk Ridderkerk
Very good hotel, lovely staff

Atrium Room (is a standard double): very spacious room and bathroom, nice modern design in the room and throughout hotel, large bath and separate shower in the bathroom. Large showerhead with excellent water pressure (although difficult to see how to control the water temperature.)
Nice box spring mattresses.
Super friendly staff in all service areas, restaurant, hotel and meeting rooms.

Negatives: The double bedconsists of 2 single beds. So mind the gap, kept waking up, feeling I would fall between the beds. On request they made the matrasses up as a double, which was slightly better.
Lacking; coffee and tea facilities (according to the site you have to book the more expensive suites to get that).
Also lacking; the sleep-timer on the tv remote control. Why does Philips not add those to their Q remote control, used in many hotels. Apparently the Philips designers never woke up groggy in front of a telly that was still on?

In regard of location; this is a definitely more of a business hotel. It is located south of Rotterdam, near a major highway (almost next to the hotel, but rooms are sound proof). With public transport you either have to take a bicycle from stations Barendrecht or Rotterdam Lombardije ( a 10 minute train ride from Rotterdam Central), or a taxi from the latter station (7,50 euro). Do not expect charming surroundings. If you insist on sleeping with the window open, ask for a room on the side of the hotel away from the highway!

Very modern clean Hotel - staff couldn't be more helpful. It is quite a distant outside of Rotterdam itself, but if your that side of town I would thoroughly recommend it
