I can confirm all the positive things the other authors here have been writing: incredibly beautiful place with an amazing beach, peaceful, good company dining under the trees, warm welcome and ongoing care from Mateo, Panos and the whole team!
Even our teenage girls didn't complain about not having WIFI.... they were loving it!

Our trip to Onar was so memorable that I daily want to go back to the calm, serene beautiful paradise that we experienced. The 4 days that we were there were some of the best of our 2 weeks in Greece. The owner of Onar had a dream to make this paradise, and Mateo has achieved this beautifully. The amazing landscape of this valley and private cove beach is matched by the uber friendly staff! I wanted to take Panos home he is so sweet and welcoming!! The minute you arrive there it is obvious that you are going to unplug from the rest of the world. Your own private villa hidden amongst beautiful shrubs, to the outdoor dining for hours with delicious food and refreshing wine, and wonderful people to chat with and experience their own cultures. People ask me "what was the best part of your trip and I have to say the time we spent at Onar was like no other! Onar means dream, and by the time I left with tears in my eyes, I knew my dream of traveling to Greece had come true!!! I will go back to Onar in a mila second!!
We visited Onar at the end of May, beginning of June. From the moment we arrived until we left, it was an amazing experience. The welcome From Mateo and Panagiotis was very warm. Our small cottage was exactly as described, simple but luxurious. The setup of the cottages is ideal, and gives a total sense of privacy.
Staff was very attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The chef made us a fantastic picknick lunch for our hike in the hills. The meals were generally simple, but very tasty.
The location is absolutely idyllic. Only a 10 minute walk to the beach, which was practically private, since nobody makes the somewhat challenging drive down to Ahla beach.
We cannot find anything that should be changed if you are looking for a secluded, peaceful and totally relaxing holiday.
Tip: visit Andros town, a typical Greek island village, without the swarms of tourists spoiling a nice lunch or a peaceful sightseeing stroll.
Such an incredibly unique location! If you don't find peace and calm at Onar, then you won't find it anywhere. Incredibly warm and welcoming staff that went above and beyond to make our family feel comfortable and enjoy our stay to the max! We'll be back. maybe a lot!
We love Onar and come here every year for a week of sea, sun, great food and chill. The accomodations are comfortably and tasteful, the location is hard to top and the staff super friendly. Our daily routine is bliss: it's the kind of place you want to get up at 6am in order to see the beautiful sunrise over the beach. Do your exercise next to the small chapel overlooking the bay, then get breakfast in the shady restaurant. The day we spend reading, hiking or swimming in the sea which we have just for ourselves.
Great place, well worth the journey, which from The UK is quite a trek. The food and drink was really good, very fresh and tasty. The beach is fantastic, only a handful of people except at the weekend, when the local boat brings about 20-30 people.
Take lots of books. The weekly BBQ on the beach is fantastic, and a great way to meet new people. Really friendly staff, they will do anything for you. We loved having dinner on the veranda every night, as our son slept in the room. Matteo is a great guy, thank you for everything.
