This hotel is in an Idyllic position ,

the private beach was never crowded, the coastal path from the hotel to St Ives is a 25min. stroll along a tree lined private road with stunning views on the approach to St Ives. There is a train station overlooking the beach at St Ives which runs every 30 min. to Penzance also stopping at Carbis bay, a picturesque train journey with sea views most of the way

If you like walking there is a lovely walk to Lelant along a slightly harder coastal path from the hotel which passes alongside the golf course and endless sandy beaches before ending at the Badger Inn Pub at Lelant, if you follow the lane at the back of the pub to the Saltings Station you can get the train back. There are many other outstanding coastal walks just a 20 min drive from the hotel.

The food at the hotel was excellent and nicely presented, the menu was changed daily and always had a good selection to choose from. The restaurant was well attended and spacious and overlooked the heated pool and sandy bay. Wine by the bottle seemed a little expensive, but a 250ml glass of excellent red or white was less than £6 per glass.

Breakfast was served in the restaurant from 7.30am until 10am, you could choose from an extensive selection from a buffet table comprising - cereal, fresh fruit including strawberries and rasps, fruit juice, pastries, ham, cheese, nuts, toast, preserves etc, a cooked breakfast of your choice was served at your table.

Our room was comfortable, clean and modern and overlooked the bay, there were no water pressure problems at any time as can happen in some hotel rooms, our shower was almost therapeutic when turned on full.

There is a heated outdoor pool with tables and sun loungers in a screened and sheltered garden area overlooking the bay, ideal if it is breezy, the water in the pool was nice and warm.

The hotel reception and conservatory area has recently been refurbished and looks fabulous, the hotel staff were friendly, attentive and seemed to genuinely want to ensure you had a good holiday.

We stayed 10 days, had a relaxing time and hope to return next year.

Did not stay at the hotel but used the restaurant and Bar facilities a number of times during our stay in St Ives. The food is very good both the bar service and restaurant. The staff are not as warm/welcoming as most places I have visited in the area but they are polite and courteous. It is an excellent location to sit and relax as it over looks the bay and almost has a Mediterranean feel to it. You can either sit outside either around the open air pool, on the sun deck or in the conservatory all which have that magnificent view.

We arrived on the Saturday afternoon and were greeted by very pleasant reception staff. Our room was overlooking the pool and a very good size. The bathroom was good size, but one thing that let it down was the lack of privacy with the window (even though it had obscure glass&net) situated next to the toilet. We could still see people walking down the slope outside. Bed extremely comfortable, good quality bedding and towels. Lovely complimentary toiletries also which were of high quality too.

The breakfast restaurant was very good, a lovely choice of croissants, fruits etc. We didn't bother with hot breakfast so cannot comment. We had a massive pot of tea and coffee each which was great.

The gardens were beautiful as was the pool, however to get to St Ives itself by foot should you want to leave the lovely hotel, was fine if you are fit and able bodied however if you have any kind of walking disability or arthritis it would be impossible as you have to go up lots of steps and there is no hand-rail, this could take at least 20 minutes. It would be better to get a taxi which is about a fiver, the reception staff will sort that out for you with no problems at all.

The weather was not that scorching the weekend I stayed to use the outdoor pool, however there were some people making use of the comfy sun loungers to get the last of the late summer sunshine.

We would highly recommend going into St Ives to a restaurant/cafe named Rhubarb. It is up a side street and not on main strip. The menu was amazing and all the young staff are fabulous. The puddings were spectacular.

You must visit the old Hand made fudge shop which is along the main street. An old couple have owned the shop and made the fudge since the year dot and they make gorgeous tasty fudge. We laughed at the children's comments on the wall by letter thanking MR AND MRS FUDGE for allowing them to sample. We brought some home and it went down well with the family.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view or pool view room.

Supper was amazing, our room was not perfect, but very comfortable, the shower was fabulous and the view from the conservatory was spectacular. Not the most impressive place we've stayed in, but we had a wonderful break and hope to return.

my partner and i stayed for 3 nights at the carbis hotel in st ives. true, as you see on line the location is perfect...and thats where it ends. i did complain during my stay, some of the staff were far from proffeshional, the breakfast was limited and my cooked breakfast was unpleasant.
i could go on forever...all i can say is i would not go back.

Room Tip: our room could of done with a lick of paint and there was a knob missing off of the dressing table draw, so couldnt open it!!! room wasnt that clean.
