“Sensational setting.”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

Sensational setting says it all: situated over looking the River Tay and bridge at the mouth and outflow of Loch Tay. Although the hotel is reputed to be the oldest in Scotland, this being reflected in the period feel of some areas of the hotel, the show piece is the contemporary glass Taymouth restaurant which over looks the river and makes for a very pleasant dining room especially given the remote location. We found the staff particularly pleasant and keen to please.
The only criticisms were the dated decor in our bedroom on the third floor; the tired decor to the corridors and circulation areas [the green paint and wall paper combination was unfortunate] and some of the generally good food being not being quite 100%.
I would go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

This is a jewel of a restaurant! I wish I had found this hotel and restaurant at the begining of my vacation, instead of the last day. It's so nice to be able to write something good about a place. The service was excellent, food was wonderful. It was my best meal in the Scottish Highlands. The prices were reasonable for top quality food. As we left, we looked around the lobby and bar, and a roaring fire was in the fireplace, and it looked so cozy I did not want to go back to my hotel in Killin.
The view is fantastic. The front of the restaurant is all glass and you are looking out at the river. If I ever go back to Scottish Highlands, this would be where I would dream about staying.
There is a small quaint village and a Castle within walking distance from the hotel and Restaurant.
I hope you enjoy this place as muuch as I did!

The Kenmore Hotel is set in the small beautiful village of Kenmore on Loch Tay. We stayed for two nights through an internet deal. The staff were very welcoming. This was our second stay at the hotel and enjoyed it very much. I found the rooms very dark but as we were not in them too long it was OK. The very shiney green paintwork in the hallways and stairways doesn't set off this beautiful building to it's best advantage. The restaurant has magnificent views over the river Tay and in good weather a very pleasant balcony. I would take your own hairdryer as trying to hold the switch in the on position whilst blowdrying you hair with the dryer supplied is difficult.

This was another little hotel we stayed at while traveling around Perthshire. The Kenmore hotel has plenty of history and is warm, comfortable, with interesting rooms, good food and great service. It is located on the river and has lovely views from the restaurant and bar. The area is seriously worth visiting - taking a drive around Loch Tay to Killin and back is worth the effort (very narrow roads).

A very nice hotel in a spectacular setting. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful and the restaurant very good. The food was excellent within its price range. We were pleasantly surprised by the bill, couldn't fault anything and we would certainly stay there again.

This is a cosy, rather than fancy hotel. Our room looked quite recently decorated, and was clean, but the corridors were a bit dated.

Food in the restaurant was lovely, and views across the river are fab. Lots of nice walks nearby, and good for anglers.
