Stayed at The Mains of Taymouth for a week and was very happy that The Courtyard bar allowed in dogs. On arrival on a cold saturday afternoon we had a quick drink before unpacking, and we were very surprised at how nice the place was. Lovely building with plenty of leather sofas, a lovely log burning stove in the middle. It really did look so romantic and the ambience was lovely. So we decided to try the food out on the Sunday afternoon after a long walk. Well what a disappointment. Only homemade soup and a 1/2 a sandwich, nothing special - you can't go wrong with that -can you!!!!! leek and potato soup was like dishwater with no seasoning at all - BLT sandwich with very very fatty bacon, limp lettuce and crisps which were out of date by2 months. It is expensive so we would have expected more. We didn't even get a check back from the staff and they didn't even ask if we enjoyed the meal (even though it was only 1/2 eaten. Hence we didn't eat again which was a shame but we did go back for a few drinks in the evening which was really nice.
This place could be a gold mine and we hope that changes will be made to the food.
