I was visiting family on the Isle of Wight and after doing some jobs during the morning we were hungry. This old fashioned café offered exactly what we wanted.
You can sit outside - I am sure these tables are busy in the summer with people watching the passing boats. But we chose a table indoors next to a window
I had a cheese and ham toastie which was freshly cooked and served with a lovely salad garnish. The chips were great too.
We were saying that you can't beat a cup of tea from a big teapot - you can really taste the difference to what modern chains offer.
Tollgate Café also sells holiday souvenirs - rock, mugs etc. It also has a table of second hand books for sale with profits going to a local hospice.
I would love to go back on a hot, sunny day - though I am not so sure I would get a seat so easily!
