“What a great pub!”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

We are regulars on the island and always go to the Propellor Inn - such a friendly lot and always take time out to talk to you - try their great curry night on Wednesdays or their quiz night on Thursday, the prizes are lousy but the fun is priceless. Well worth it.
Dave the landlord has a collection of memorabilia in the bar and raises money for 'Heroes' as well as other causes...also would you like your photo taken with the queen? - see Dave or Helen.
There's a log fire in the bar, or on fair weather days, you can sit outside and watch the planes taking off and landing, couldn't be more relaxing.
Recommended, absolutely...Jim, Ali & Dan

“Different Ambience”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

The landlord and the pub are of a different ilk to most! There is a collection of military arms and ammunition and it is dedicated to the landlord's son who is serving in Afghanistan with the Para's. The meals were priced very reasonably and the beer was fantastic!

“A bit of a gem”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Loved the collection of Militaria and Dave The Hobbit's fund raising exploits. Limited choice of ales though. A warm welcome, though shut on the odd night that I have tried to return. Shame they won't let you clean and strip the SLR in the back room.

“Great, quirky pub”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We visited the Propellor with friends yesterday. We had often passed by but never stopped but thought the location (next to the airfield ) would be a good place to try for lunch. How glad we are that we did. It`s such a welcoming place full of memorabilia and the staff so friendly. We all had different starters and mains from the specials board and found the food good and plentiful good value for money. I would also add the wines were also good and great to have the different size bottles.
We were fascinated by the memorabilia. It was like a small museum. So interesting.

Well done all, we live in Sandown and will certainly be back.

“never open”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

I have just been to the Propeller Inn and yet again it has shut early. It is advertising open on Sunday till 6pm and at 4.45pm it is shut up. Another family of diners that they have lost out to. This is typical of this inn at this time of year, after the main holiday season has finished it becomes a hit and miss place to eat as you never know when it's open. We find also that unless Hobbit is about the staff tend to be rude and unhelpful. It is a shame as it could be a great place.
