Visited Bembridge Coast for the second time. Sadly, we felt that things were not as good as our visit last year.
The food was not as good - although the staff did their best to please. Felt a lot of food was simply sitting around for too long - especially if you ate later in the evening.
Strong smell of tobacco on waiters was also very offputting when eating.
Looking forward to using the indoor pool but this was also used by non residents in the 'leisure club'. This meant it was difficult to find a time when it was quiet and as one of us is an improver this was not ideal.
Also felt cleanliness and hygiene was not really up to scratch. Our bathroom could certainly have been cleaner. Basin and bath not really cleaned each day thoroughly and our room was not vacuumed each day - just once during our stay.
Sorry to say we will not be returning - shame because the position is excellent, the staff are generally helpful and friendly.
Incidentally, we did stay in a top of the range room.

I am sorry to hear your return visit to us was a disappointment. All feedback is valuable and I have discussed your review with our Housekeeping dept re the room cleanliness and Restaurant Manager re the smoking rules for our team and believe these issue's should now be resolved. I have also spoken to chef about your food comments as well. Having previously enjoyed a visit with us and our fantastic location and friendly team I hope you can give us another chance sometime in the future. Regards Phil

first time all inclusive guests. we also paid extra for a signatureroom,which wason equal to 4 star chain hotels.superb dinning experience,busy but appetising,well presented food.all the staffwere friendly,courteous& helpful.from the booking advisor vicky,& I.O.W. crew a great Bank holiday break Surely this has to be The Flag Ship for Warners Company???

This is our 3rd time at Bembridge. The hotel is superb and our room overlooking the Spainish gardens could not be faulted. All the staff were excellent but a special metion must go to Nick our waiter and Marion our room cleaner who both made sure we had everything we needed.
The only negatives were that the swimming pool and changing areas although spotlees clean are looking a little tired and would benfit from a revamp and on the evenings when there was no live music the atomsphere in the ballroom was flat.

Thanks for your great review and constructive feedback - You will be glad to know that we are due to undertake a full refurbishment of our Swimming Pool changing rooms very soon which will be completed by the end of this year. We have stayed at this hotel previously, and have to say that everything seems to have improved since our last visit. Very clean, lovely signature room, food good and the location is great. Grounds are well kept and people are friendly. This is really a very good place to stay. There are more older people than young, but it is ok. We are sure to return, we love the Isle of Wight, and there really is no better place to stay.

Overall the hotel was beautiful, the setting was exceptional, All the staff were very friendly especially Maria the Entertainments manager who was always very helpful, Nothing was ever to much trouble, The food and the restaurant decor was superb, The restaurant staff were brillant and were always there to help, our waiter John was excellent and always obliging. The bar was very often busy and it could take a little while to get a drink, Apart from that everything was to a high standard..

We have just returned fom a 3 night weekend break (2 Couples).When we arrived the first impression was 'this looks great'
Reception and booking in procedure was very good and the staff always seemed to have a ready smile.
We were in two rooms that were booked as their best 'Royal Rooms' in Hollywood House and on the face of it they look as if they might be? This was an incorrect impression, plumbing (apart fom maybe the bed) is probably, themost important facility that is required, sadly this was lacking (Room705 plumbing was just about non exsistant, not able to bath or shower) (Room 703 not quite as bad, able to have bath etc. if you were patient)
On complaining (several times) an engineer was finally sent the next day to mend the problem, he was not able to. At first we were tod the Hotel was full but after being insistant that staying where we were was not acceptable 2 inferior rooms suddenly became available, one was accepted (room 705 no choice really) the othe couple decided to stay put to much hassle to move and the room did have a poorly working plumbing system.
Compansation was offered but it was derisory.
We learned that managment had been aware these problems in 'Hollywood House' but were and still are booking people into these rooms which appeared to be on a fingers cross basis that clients would put up with problems.
THIS TO ME IS VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE.
Also as these were book as the best rooms in the hotel and as this is a seaside resort we expected a seaview, WHAT WE GOT WAS A HEDGE ABOUT 3 METRES FROM OUR WINDOW.
OTHER ISSUES
When we notified staff of any issue (and there were a few the comment did not seemed to be passed on to management. When the managment were approached they did not appear to be aware?
On ordering wine on the first night we waited 25 minutes to be served, the second took 15 minutes. We asked to speak to managment this took 1hour 25minutes.
I could go on, ON THE PLUS SIDE
Food was good and plentyfull, staff were always with aready smile (perhaps to many that did not have full command of english).
Round the Island trip was good and the hostess and driver were excellent (MARIA and JOHN)
The hotel was very clean and tidy

Thank you for your in-depth review and may I briefly explain the situation with Hollywood House. We developed an intermittent problem with the plumbing system which we were unable to quickly identify the cause or source behind this. I am now pleased to advise that we have this week 15th Aug 2011 taken these rooms offline to carry out extensive modification of the plumbing works and to install brand new showers in all 6 rooms which are now fed by the Mains water supply. We are confident that this has resolved all plumbing issues in Hollywood House. We have also reviewed the supplements for these rooms and brought them into line with our Guest expectations. Many people prefer these Royales as they are away from the main facilities and offer a more peaceful environment. I am also sorry that not all your comments were dealt with efficiently and I have discussed your review with our management team. I am however pleased you felt the food was good and our team always greeted you with a smile and the hotel was clean and tidy. Apologies once again we did not live up to your expecations on this visit but thanks again for the feedback which is always valuable and gratefully received.

Do not waste your money on upgrading to these bedrooms, room looked fine until we tried to have a bath, it would have taken at least 1 hr to get enough water and there was insufficent water pressure for the shower to work. Complains seemed to be ignored, but we eventually got moved 24 hrs later. We later discovered this was a problem known to the management and staff, this being so we felt that these rooms were not fit to be let even at the basic rate and that we had paid good money under false pretences.
Dining room very pleasant and food good. We went on the tour of the island on Sunday - this was excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Do not book Hollywood House, rooms sub standard - water problems.

Thank you for your feedback and I apologise for the problems you encountered with the water pressure in Hollywood House.We developed an intermittent problem with the plumbing system which we were unable to quickly identify the cause or source behind this. I am now pleased to advise that we have this week 15th Aug 2011 taken these rooms offline to carry out extensive modification of the plumbing works and to install brand new showers in all 6 rooms which are now fed by the Mains water supply. I have just been over personally today 18/08/11 and ran a standard depth bath in 5 mins. I have also tested the showers which have a modern three function shower head and these are amazingly powerful now especially if you select the strongest jet setting. I am glad you enjoyed the food and your trip out and hopefully this response demonstrates how we respond to feedback and resolve issues that our brought to our attention. I am just sorry it spoilt your initial experience with us - Kind Regards Phil
