Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. Breakfasts were very good as well as the outstanding service throughout the hotel. Expensive but well worth the visit as a special treat! The Brasserie meal was excellent as was the meal in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Room 36 had a perfect view over the grounds down to the river.

We stayed here for a short romantic break. Upon arrival in the reception area the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The excellent service started when we were shown to our room where we registered without having to queue at the reception desk. The room was a standard double which was very comfortable, quite spacious and a lovely view across the fields to the river. A bottle of champagne was awaiting our arrival. It is ideally situated for people who like to walk and enjoy the countryside. We ate in the Bistro and the food was excellent. There is also a Michelin star restaurant and, after talking to other guests who had eaten there we are now intending a return visit to try out that restaurant.

We were staying on a Wish You Were here Deal but the staff needed reminding or asking at each meal. In the bistro they had no idea what was included and we had to ask for our included Pimms on the second night. This is not peculiar to this hotel as I have found the same problem at others. If you have to give your name in each restaurant why is it necessary to tell the staff you are on a package deal. This is a very good hotel let down by detail. Our room on the ground floor was clean and pleasant but the design of the bathroom was cramped requiring an awkward exit from the shower over the bath with no grab rail.
The pool in the spa is excellent though it is across the road.
The new chef shows excellent promise as food was very good in the restarant.
Walking from the hotel was excellent and the concierge gave very good advice.

Stayed just one night and it was brilliant, the room was beautiful with a lovely view of the gardens. The staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a swim in the health barn which was relaxing and quiet. We did not have a meal because it was out of our league not what we are used to. We had lovely quiet and peaceful time and would return again and this time have a bigger afternoon tea and longer stay. This hotel was on our bucket/wish list but want to do it all over again.

Room Tip: We did not have a choice but was in the Wharfdale Wing, ground floor room facing the garden, would ask for this again.

We went on a "mini-moon" here after our wedding and what a treat it was. The staff could not have been lovelier, the room was amazing and food outstanding. We had some treatments in the spa which were also fab. Would definitely recommend for couples, both young and mature. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: We staryed in the Fisherman room which was lovely, decorated tastefully and very spacious.
