Owner description: Twycross Zoo is renowned as a specialist primate zoo and has a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK's only group of bonobos. We have breeding groups of many endangered primate species so we often have babies and toddlers playing around in our orang utan and bonobo groups, and in many of our monkey groups. Set in more than 80-acres, we have around 900 animals of more than 160 species to see, including many native species in the Zoo's Nature Reserve. You can walk with our ring-tailed lemurs in their new walk-through enclosure; see our giant tortoises sunbathing in their new grass area and watch our penguins take their daily walk. Our keepers present regular talks and feeds where you can learn a bit more about some of our animals such as the chimpanzees, penguins and meerkats. Twycross Zoo's award winning Education Department offers a variety of discovery opportunities for many different types of groups and parties. The Zoo holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, all sessions are curriculum linked and all are designed to best engage all age groups.

we called into the zoo before heading home. It was large and impressive and well worth the money. My daughter wanted to go in and i thought it would be for children so reluctantly agreed (she is 28) but i was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it.

Good primate zoo and dinosaur exhibition but over £70 for four adults and one child. Very pricy.Cafe next to dino exhibition had reasonably priced pasta and pizza that was actually edible.

This is a good zoo that majors on monkeys and apes. Very clean place with a very good miniature railway and excellent shop/eating area.
It is also flat so it is very easy to walk around but the paths are gravel and can be dusty on dry days so don't wear your best shoes.
Food is good and not too expensive and the animals are well kept.
Mobility scooters are available to hire

Our kids absolutely loved this zoo, it is well laid out and very child friendly. The adults also enjoyed it and I would definitely go back!

Only good point about this day was the beautiful sunny day, you are greeted at the gate £14 an adult £11 a child under 16, our party two adults three children £61 ouch!!! left me with the,, this had better be worth it attitude, and boy was i dissappointed, empty exhibits closed off areas no prominent directions,, no interactive stuff for the children, when compared to Chester Zoo,, no big cats, no gorilla, a very sad and bored chimp with no ropes or other activities, most of the critters were tucked away out of sight,as was the Amur Leopard huge enclosure and just about see his back through the undergrowth, oh yes the pet corner we missed the pick up a guinea pig half hour too,, Dinosaur exhibit was ok , but they are not real!! poor little train ride to take you very slowly no where, high light one of my kids getting squirted on by a mechanical raptor, place is tidy i guess but seemed to lack any zest or effort put into it and the staff generally were non motivated to do anything for high paying guests, big long ques for all the cafe and ice cream huts, most dissapointed and did feel like asking for money back,, delighted that my money is supposedly going to help preserve endangered species , but probably going to share holders,,.sorry if you can guess by my tone i am not impressed at all with this place,, final kicker in the shop of soft toys at the exit to your visit there was a tiger skin hand bag "" really appropriate"""!! ""not""!
