“Great service wins it all”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

so this is my 3rd visits to bohol island as well as staying at alona beach area. the first time i stayed at amorita and was quite grateful to make that decision.

we were immediately greeted by the staff with welcome drinks and arrangement of staying in an a/c room when the actual hotel rooms were not yet available (around 8am at that time)

we stayed at the pool area and enjoyed the moment when typhoon hit the area and the island hopping event was cancelled.

other areas we like about the hotel include the welcome snacks, packed breakfast, the food at the restaurant, and the great services by the receptionist, life guards, waiters and waitresses

the area we don't like the hotel include the room.. which is a bit too plain for the price we paid. also the housekeeping needed more training. our "packed breakfast" boxes stayed in the room without being cleaned. our massage beds remained in the room without being collected after massage at night

Stunning view of Alona beach from the infinity pool. It sits on top of a cliff so it's away from the hustle and bustle of the beach yet allows you to get to the beach in no time through a gate off to its side. Lounging chairs closest to the cliff were a little worn out and did not offer too much shade from scorching sun but there were other areas to unwind..Must try the banana turon and pizza from Saffron restaurant. They have a delectable spread for their breakfast buffet and Saturday night grill buffet. Deluxe rooms were not luxurious but adequate. Too bad the balcony had no sitting options although the drying rack for wet clothes was a good idea. Service was great except for one pool attendant who I felt wasn't as attentive to our company as he was w/ other guests. Nice touches of little notes, postcards, cookies and kalachuchi flowers in your room made it a cut above the rest. Entire resort is not huge or as swanky as the newer Bellevue but it gave us the laidback getaway we so needed. Had a little trouble w/ booking because I didn't have a Paypal acct. It says on the site that enrolling in PayPal was optional but it would not let me through at al unless I use Paypal. have brought this to the attention of their manager and received feedback that they are currently fixing this

Amorita in Panglao Island, Bohol is just amazing. We were booked about 2 years ago and I still remember how great the experience was.

The breakfast food buffet was heart warming with local and international treats. Among my favorites were the pure cocoa, the soft hot french toast, the fresh fruits, the perfect pumpkin soup, and usual egg, and toast and local viands. I'm vegetarian so I please pardon my not noticing the meat section which was plentiful. I haven't even mentioned the a la carte menu of Saffron Restaurant. From the starters to main dish and desert, I simply loved the food. Try the risotto and the seafood marinara pizza - so delicious, its definitely unforgettable. They even gave us turnovers - scrumptious cookies that I can only dream of having again - haven't found it anywhere else.

When it comes to beds and accommodation, I have only good things to say. We were picked up from the airport and ushered into the beautiful interiors of our temporary home - a sparsely Modern Balinese Villa. We had our own private Jacuzzi pool and wooden deck veranda - where we had our complimentary massage. I slept through most of it - that good. Their service and personnel are so warm and welcoming, very accommodating and efficient.

Our package included a visit to the Baclayon Church, the Blood Compact site, the Tarsiers, and the Loboc River tour - which was mostly eating while listening to music and watching the waters go by. The highlight for me was definitely the Chocolate Hills of Carmen. I would have wanted more time to spend on their infinity pool and the white sand Alona Beach. I do plan to come back here someday - its so beautiful and worth it.

Room Tip: If you are on a honeymoon, a 2nd time around or so, go for the Private Villas. Its a class and style...

Customer service, Staff know you by your first name, Great food, Great facilities, gorgeous location

The resort is perched on a cliff overlooking the gorgeous beachfront. Only 10 steps down and you're on the beachfront, very convenient. Beautiful view of the water and sunset from the resort's restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious. The best thing about the resort is the Customer Service - just impeccable! The staff greet you without fail each and every time they see you and they greet you by your first name, which in this day and age is extremely rare. The room is tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Transport service is private, very good and comfortable. There's a quiet feel to Bohol, a slower pace than other beaches like Boracay. There are no annoying vendors who pester you non stop on Alona beach. At night, some restaurants have acoustic bands playing but only 1 or 2 do. So the peaceful and laid back feel to the island is retained. Overall, 10 out of 10. If you go to Bohol, stay in Amorita.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Chocolate hills, Tarsier, Baclayon church museum, Loboc river, Loboc eco park for zip line. Did all those and had a blast.

My husband was the one who planned this trip which was supposed to be a surprise to me but since we have to be gone for a couple of days (3days&2nights at Amorita + 2 more nights and days at Cebu before proceeding to Bohol & Before Going home to Negros Occidental) he informed me to file a leave from work a week before his planned trip. He booked for the BoholTourrific Package for 3 adults and our kiddo. We brought along my mom and our 3y.o. son.
We were picked up at the port by a very friendly resort staff and driver whom we ask if we could drop by somewhere in the city to get a slipper for hubby coz he forgot to bring one and buy during our Cebu stay and they willingly agreed. We were offered cold towel and mineral water upon boarding the vehicle. Upon arriving at the resort after maybe 30 mins. ride. We were welcomed by some friendly smiles from the resort staff at the front desk. Offered a welcome drinks which I forget to ask if what was that. :).. Hubby booked for a deluxe room for 3 and later ask if we could transfer to an ocean villa since kiddo would like to plunge in to the pool right away... Since it is too hot at the infinity pool a small villa plunge pool will suffice plus the breathe taking view of the ocean from the villa.. but unfortunately the only ocean villa available was near the construction site of their expansion so they won't sell it for we cannot rest there especially during day. Our deluxe room garden view was simple yet clean and quite. And it was huge too. Plus their vault is working.. Nice bathroom even though not so luxurious. They have a hair blower too. love how they put a customized welcome note on the room. We plunge in to the infinity pool before dinner... The staff were so attentive and even one was talking to kiddo entertaining and looking after him the whole time. even offered to take picture of us 3 and me and my mom. We went back to our room to prep up for dinner and find out that it was cleaned we barely stay there for 3 hours:). And found a note for kiddo wishing him a good night sleep with a cookie and a fresh milk in tetrapack. How thoughtful. Well to keep this review short.. We took the free adult massage that night even those who gave us massage were super friendly too. Next day was the Bohol tour we were accompanied by a very nice tourguide too. We were sent with lots of mineral bottles and umbrella to keep us cool despite the hot weather. Upon arriving at the resort we were surprise by the piece of art on our bed.. It say Happy Anniversary.. and even a personalize note again greeting us on our day :)/.. That night hubby asked if we could have a room service dinner for mom and kiddo and both of us will dine at the Saffron restaurant.. only to find out he planned a surprise dinner near the cliff over looking the ocean. The staff were so kind to assist him in the planning he even asked them to get him a bouquet of yellow roses for me.. We enjoyed the whole dinner and I was emotional and shed a tear of joy when the waiter went to get our wine. Well to cut this short. The resort was awesome you can see the entire Alona Beach from there.. Staffs will assist you with a smile. The foods in the menu were kindly pricey but worth it. But maybe they can add some more choices. Oh well the breakfast was superb.. Variety of food to choose from and fruits too.:).. We really love the whole stay.. Plus they have all you need up to the liquid soap for the milk bottles of our kiddo. Its a 4 thumbs up including those of the toes.:))))

Room Tip: Choose an ocean view villa!!! We regret don't being able to enjoy the view of the sea from our r...

Overall, the word is underwhelmed.

We came in expecting luxury or at least something close, but what Amorita has to offer is actually rather standard. I'm talking about the deluxe rooms, because those villas did look nice. The room is spartan - which is fair for a beach place. But things like the floor tiles were of a regular dull kind, same with bathroom tiles - very little effort at decoration. Which wasn't bad, but in a place that markets itself as high end and charges US$200 a night for a regular room, this falls way way short.

The room balcony has no seats and opens to the back end of a split type airconditioner - just to make sure nobody can lounge on their own balcony. And there is, in fact, a lack of lounging options that aren't fully exposed to terrible heat or rain.

The front desk staff are friendly and efficient, but during check in and check out they are undermanned. Queues and crowds form and there is little comfortable seating space in the reception area.

There was wifi trouble that was never really fully resolved. A housekeeping issue (our room wasn't made up despite a couple of phone calls) that the GM properly apologized for but should never have happened in the first place. Little things like the dining room staff failing to set the place for the additional person at our table.

Happy hour was nice. But that pool was certainly not an infinity pool when we saw it.

All these make Amorita far from a top notch resort. So our suggestions are either lower your prices or step it up.

Room Tip: get the villa

Dear apester,
It is unfortunate that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. The current setup of the resort has its limitations especially during peak / high season when a lot of guests meet at the reception area to check in or check out. One of the ways we're addressing the situation is by constructing a new phase - which we are all very excited to share with our guests beginning early next year! We do hope that you will consider staying with us again on your next trip to Bohol, and go through a totally new Amorita experience. Thank you very much!
Sincerely, Carissa

We've stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. But before I booked in Amorita I also searched a lot of hotels in Bohol. Coz I find it a little expensive . And I thought that the resort is too far from the beach coz I saw in the pictures that it is located on the cliff. But a friend of mine guaranteed me that it's not a long walk going to the Alona beach. We love beaches , so the distance from the resort going to the beach is important to us.
But when we reached the resort and check the beach , it's not too far. You'll enjoy walking going down and up the cliff ,and strolling along the the Alona beach. It's just like a small Boracay in Bohol. Fine white sands and a lot of restaurant to choose from. There's also friendly people offering Island hopping and water sports just like in Boracay along Alona beach.
Their infinity pool is outstanding. Since they are located at the cliff , the infinity pool is overlooking the Alona beach and it's really a wonderful view.
We have a free breakfast buffet , with a a lot of food choices. My daughter says their hot choco is the best . They gave us a power booster drink made up of green veggies that really taste refreshingly good.
The staff is really really friendly. You'll always find them smiling and never tired of greeting us.
They always give us cookies at night which is serve in our rooms. One night when we came to our room from Bohol trip, we found a Birthday cake in our room but not our name on it. So we called the reception area that they mistakenly gave us a birthday cake. Instead of getting it back , they said we can eat and enjoy the cake. Isn't that a sweetest act.
All I can say is they are the best staff, resort and beautiful beach we've ever check in.
We'll come back again for sure.

Room Tip: all rooms are nice but the villa is better , they have their own mini pool.
