My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Amarela. It is a small, 25 room, boutique hotel, located in an excellent beach in Panglao, probably one of the best in the area. We enjoyed swimming, beach combing and kayaking, which was complimentary. We lounged at the hammocks located under the palm trees. Just a beautiful area.
The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and offer all the ammenities needed. I loved their soaps!!! They also offer in room, complimentary tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfast was quite adequate, offering several choices plus beautiful fresh fruit. The staff was always smiling, helpful, and knew us by our first name. The gardens are well maintained and beautiful flowers abound. The only problem we encountered was the number of families with misbehaving children at the pool and at the restaurant, when we were trying to enjoy our dinner in a peaceful and relaxing environment. We were there during the Chinese New Year. It was obvious that the parents had no control over their children and sometimes they were louder than the children themselves. To avoid this very annoying situation, DO NOT GO during the Chinese New Year Holidays. We complained to the management, which were very understanding and accommodating about the situation.
Amarela is a very special place and could be idyllic. Bohol has lots to offer and I would highly recommend doing a day trip around this beautiful island.

This is not an ordinary modern Hotel, but what makes this different from other hotels is that the owners have achieved to put the local arts & culture be a 'part' of the Hotel. It has shown the talents & skills of the people in Bohol & other nearby provinces, by what you will see inside this Hotel.Guests will surely appreciate what Filipinos are capable of doing !
I also loved that it is located in a quiet area.

Room Tip: choose the upper floor from 2nd floor & up for the view of the sea and for the balcony

We stayed at Amarela resort for 4 nights and I must say we were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of this boutique resort. From the moment we arrived, staff were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about all aspects of our stay. The resort is located on a hill-top that cascades with tropical gardens down to the pristine white sand beach. The pool area and gardens were always immaculate and well-maintained. Our room was of good size and the balcony provided a nice place to relax with a calming panorama of the beach below and distant islands. The bathroom was modern and contained the facilities one would expect of such a resort. Being a boutique resort, there was no over-crowding which enabled us to enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay. The only downside was the prices of the food at the restaurant which was a disadvantage given there are no other places to buy food in the surrounding area. Despite this, the food was always superb and the free breakfast every morning was fantastic.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the upper floor of the main building in order to get ocean views from your balc...

We enjoyed our stay in Amarela, definitively a better place to stay in Panglao than the overrated Alona beach and the hotels around it. The seafront here is beautiful, almost nobody around with nice spots for snorkeling and wide areas of sandy soil to enjoy a bath without worriyng to much about rocks or sea urchins (in any case you can buy convenient shoes in the boutique). The rooms are extremely clean and there is a great library including DVDs to enjoy your stay. To be a top beach resort it misses customer attention in the seafront as well as a decent swimming pool that is actually very small, also the quality of the breakfast is below the standard you might expect considering the high prices for Philippines. However is a very nice place to relax and enjoy some days in paradise. I arranged the tours with them, I know that I paid more than I should but the rest of options that I saw in Alona beach didn't give me any trust. Actually we had a car just for us for visiting Bohol and they rented the boat of some neighbour fishermen for the dolphin watching tour. Both of the tours were excellent. Front desk is very efficient, I wish Amarela good luck developing further !

We enjoyed our stay in the elegant Amarela. It was a cut above other places we stayed in the region, although some three to four times more expensive. The resort is well designed with lovely gardens running down to the sea. There are lots of extras which were nice touches including a library (books, games, DVDs). Free use of snorkeling equipment and kayaks. Food was good too - with plenty of local dishes as well as western ones. Service was friendly and efficient.

It would be nice to see water provided in rooms in jugs - seems so wasteful to have plastic bottles every day.

We stayed with two kids for 6 nights over New Year. We arrived in the morning with tired kids, so they quickly arranged a temporary room which was very nice! Overall a good experience, stylish place, nice pool and beach. The restaurant a little bit pricey, but good food and service.

Compact resort over looking the ocean, a perfect gataway.
Premis is enclosed and well garded.
The well kept private beach with white sand also have lots of shades to relax.
They have a guard house here too.

Some parts of the building are made of reused wood from old houses, which makes the beautiful old colonial atomsphere.
The resort is decorated by wooden artifacts collected by the owner,
and the old library also makes a relaxing effect.

The rooms are very clean with a petit balcony.
All rooms equipped with AC, but the ceiling fan is enough to cool you through the night.

I`d surely want to come back again and spend a whole week here just to relax.

Room Tip: De Lux Double (2 Queen ) is located in the corner and little pricey but worth it.
