Love the place, beach, room and service in this resort.

The whole family is looking forward on our next schedule to this resort!! Most satisfied ever!!!

The serenity and clear water makes us miss the place.

A pure white sand is too relaxing to walk on...

Cant wait to see you again...

We are a family of 5 and stayed in a beach front delux room. We booked through Agoda who, said there is room for extra bed...there is...just about..the double beds seem quite small and the room is a squeeze for 5 BUT after getting over the initial shock, we began to really appreciate what the resort has to offer. The room was smallish but very clean and modern with high quality bedding. The location was perfect, right on the beach with lots of palms trees. We headed straight for lunch and were very happy with the menu. We had great service in the restaurant, where we ate every meal for 5 days-thank you Gemil and Stanley for looking after us! The restaurant was a nice cool place to sit and look out to the infinity pool and the beach and sea beyond. There were a good number of people staying at the resort but it never really appearered so busy that it wasn't enjoyable or relaxing. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the eggs station came in every handy....lots of Asian/Filipino food at the buffet, some more cereal choices would improve the buffet. We paid extra for coffee from the bar but the brewed coffee was also good. A turn down service was greatly appreciated each day, extra toiletries, towels etc. We had a great massage on the beach in a cabana, more expensive than Manila but very very nice with a superb view. The kids enjoye dthe games room with pool and ping-pong. There was a wedding one eve which was lovely to watch snd there was a buffet and band on the beach on our last night. One eve there was an outside movie which was something different, nice to chill out on the bean bags in the open air, pretty much had the movie to ourselves. The pool bar was another chill-out spot, serving food all day too. Although you are tied to the resort in some respects, it's not a bad place to be tied!..The Bee Farm isn't far away and Alona Beach is close too if you really need to escape. This place is definitely worth a visit if you'r e thinking of going to Bohol. Another plus, it's only 30 mins from the airport and the flight times both to and from Bohol (from Manila) are very convenient. Tip though, don't forget to request an early check in to the room as Manila flight arrives at 9.30 in the morn.

Room Tip: Beach front or a villa if you don't mind paying the extra...not cheap though!

This resort is a must for those who like to enjoy nature, beautiful sunsets, romantic views, beautiful and clean white sand beach and extremely top of class service.
I was here during Easter and instead of finding a crowded athmosphere although the resort was sold out, the environment was relaxing and top of class.
The housekeeping service was excellent and our steward Flor was always nice and provided excellent room house keeping service.
The restaurant was outstanding both in quality and service. They have a superb buffet at night with a lot of variety and for all tastes. Matthew was our waiter, always with a smile and always careing!
Then get a drink at the beach bar.....so nice! Mark was the bar tender and on top of making excellent drinks he was nice and welcoming,
The only negative side was at the check out...it was slow and they had wrongly charged us the stay once again although we had prepaid!!!! But this was easily solved. A must for those who seek relaxing time, beautiful beach and outstanding athmosphere.

Room Tip: Get a beachfront view room like us...it was fantastic

Booked by telephone, worked without problems.
They offer a complementary bus service to and from the ferry pier or the airport. The concierge who drove with us gave a lot of information about the sights and island.
Check-in slow but ok. We had beachfront room 209: overall good room, but the shower did not drain properly and the aircon blows straight on the bed. The shower was repaired after two days, for the aircon we asked for a portable fan, which was brought to the room almost immediately.
At night sleep was interrupted by security guards passing by directly in front of the window with their walkie-talkie turned to max volume. Also we had the feeling of being under constant supervision by those guards: looking in our room, watching us at the beach, checking when we leave and when we come back and who are our visitors if any. The feeling of being watched at all times in the end made us check-out earlier than planned.
Second reason are the prices: the resort is far from everything: for restaurants, bars, supermarkets etc. you have to drive min. 10 mins. One drive by hotel-shuttle costs you 400 PHP. One-way! That is also the reason, why they can take very expensive prices for everything (small bottle of water 60 PHP, caffe latte 120 PHP).
Staff is friendly, but poorly trained for a high class hotel. Be ready to patiently explain everything you are requesting, and you will be helped with a friendly smile but the wrong thing.
The beach is wonderful! White sand! At low tide it's not easy to swim since the water is very shallow. But it's a perfect playground for kids! Sometimes there are not enough longchairs, but ask the staff and they will bring some.
Resort is caring for your entertainment: every evening they have some shows or bands, at daytime you can play volleyball or watersport activities. They even have staff to offer free beach entertainment for kids, so you can chill out.

Conclusion: the resort is perfect for typical club-/resort-holidays but very pricy for the Philippines. The resort is still new, so I guess their standard is improving. If you want a little individuality, rent a scooter or motorbike in Alona for 300 PHP/day!

Room Tip: Ask for the routes of the security patrols and chose a room far away!

The South Palms Resort has real potential. Situated on the shore with a far finer beach than the nearby Estaya and with staff that are without exception courteous, friendly and helpful, it has the potential to become a truly first class resort. To do so it needs to address some issues noted below.

We stayed for five days around Easter. And apart from the noise pollution, we enjoyed it greatly. The great bulk of the guests were Asian, mainly from Manila and Korea. Among the minority of westerners, the Russians dominated, with a sprinkling of French, American and German guests. Our eight year old son said it was one of the best hotels he had stayed it. We would not go that far, but it was still well above average.

NOISE POLLUTION. The single most serious blemish is easy and costless to fix. It is noise pollution. The resort is mercifully free of the buzz of motorised water scooters, but plagued by loud music from amplifiers. In the modern world where everyone can have the music of his or her choice through earphones at any time and any place, there is no reason to pollute the air with amplified music of any sort, particularly at the volume and mixes of base and treble used at the South Palms. It destroys the tranquillity of an idyllic environment and mars the experience of those who come to relax and escape the stress and hurly burly of everyday life. If it is used, it should be set at a volume and mixed so that it is scarcely noticed, with minimal base. On one evening the base boomed so much that it could be heard inside rooms at the farthest end of the resort.

ROOMS. The rooms are clean and adequate. Tastefully, though not expensively, furnished, they are strung out in single story structures along the beach so that the resort does not seem crowded even when it is full. However, the structures are cheaply built, with little sound insulation. You can hear your neighbour cough in the adjacent room or the door close when they arrive or leave. The toiletries were what is to be expected, and the turn down service prompt and competent, but there were no bathrobes – something that any four-star hotel should have in the room without asking.

FOOD. We had half board, with buffet breakfasts and dinners. We almost always found something to our liking at every meal and the buffets changed to some substantial extent on four of the five days. However, the food was not so good as to be tempted to overeat, and there were some oddities. Despite being in the tropics, the choice of fruit was limited to pineapple and watermelon on most days and there was no freshly pressed juice on offer. Even though breakfast was included in the price of the room, we were asked to pay for espresso based-coffee (though not for tea, instant coffee or filtered coffee). This should not happen in a first class hotel.

WIFI. The Wi-Fi was free. However, on all but the first day it was hopelessly slow, presumably because it is not scaled to the number of guests who use it. Since it is free, there is no reason to have it password protected (though it may be necessary to accept the terms of usage by clicking)

ACTIVITIES. The resort offered a programme of activities for children that delighted our son. However, they were a little haphazard. The activities did not start at the time announced, and on one occasion did not take place at all. Still, the hotel deserves credit for improvising; the life guard gave our son swimming lessons.

SPA AND FACILITIES. The massages were very good, and the cabanas where they were administered tastefully appointed. The fitness room is adequate. The entrance of the hotel and perimeter need to be spruced up. The tennis court was in disrepair.

All in all, the experience was positive. This was mainly because of the quality of the management and staff and the natural beauty of the site. If the hotel can address the issues noted above, it will provide its guests with a truly outstanding experience and perhaps others will share our son’s judgement.

We tried South Palms Resort in order to enjoy the view and to dine in with at Oceanice Seafood Restaurant. The crew are quite hospitable and respectful so I was amazed at first. What I really wanted is to have a good view of the beach and of course to enjoy it as well.

After few minutes we went straight to the restaurant. After we took our orders, we wait for a while, few orders were served after a long wait. Thereafter, we followed up again our orders then it took another couple of minutes to serve the other fords that we ordered. We asked for a drinks, it took them too long to serve the same and that made me so disappointed since even for a soda or a simple house tea, took them several minutes to serve it in our table. We asked for additional rice purposely ahead of time before some of it were consumed in our table but then again even for a rice made me so disappointed again.

In short, they have a very poor service. I don't know if they were not properly trained or was it because the restaurant is new and it needs more improvements or whatever reasons may have been caused behind all those odds.

The beach is good for swimming, the pool is not that nice, it's not big nor too small for everyone to enjoy swimming. The sand is clean and white anyway for those who are beach lovers, you may be contented with their beach.

I have been going to Panglao for my summer vacation for the past 4 years and stayed in different resorts. This time around I opted to stay with South Palms Resort due to the recommendation of a good friend who works at the resort, Mr. Jay Estenzo. My friends and I expected very little but we left the hotel with an amazing experience, and deep appreciation for the warm hospitality, great accommodations at the Villa and the regular rooms, great food and services. I personally left several items like sunblock, slippers and my Oakley sunglasses at the beach front but I was surprised to know that they were all returned back to me courtesy of the very efficient front office team. We felt secured during our stay.

The resort is located far from the busy and party crowd of Alona so we had fun in the very relaxing atmosphere of the resort which we needed coming from our busy and hectic schedules in Cebu. If you are looking for a for great place to stay, chill and relax in Panglao, South Palms Resort is highly recommended.

Congratulations to the Management and staff of the hotel especially to Sheila (FOM) and Jay Estenzo for making our stay very meaningful and stress free.
