“Stylish rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

The rooms were more or less of 5-star quality as claimed. I found the bathrooms appealing, with a simple, elegant design and a separate shower. The bedroom was stylish and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The public areas were less well done but not jarringly bad.

The breakfast buffet (included in room rate) was sumptuous, comparable to those of other 5-star hotels in the country, with a very wide variety of hot and cold dishes. During a recent stay in the US I was shocked at how little variety there was in a top hotel's Sunday Brunch, described as a "must-try" in Washington DC, and costing close to $100 a head. American and European hoteliers should take a cue from Asia.

Apart from the white-sand beach, there is just a rather ordinary swimming pool, which seemed inconsistent with the room quality. There wasn't much else by way of facilities.

The staff were very good - well-trained, spoke good English, knew their hotel even though it has just opened, and helpful. At the sundries shop, for example, when I failed to find a beach bag that suited me, the salesgirl noticed that I was carrying loose items in my to hands, and offered me a nice plastic bag even though I hadn't bought anything - that's what I hope for in Filipino hospitality. (There were other examples of staff who clearly had a personal desire to be of service to guests.)

Bohol hotel prices are higher than those in neighboring Cebu, evidencing a relative paucity of international-class rooms.

I don't know how anyone could give the Bellevue less than a 5 star rating. The rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious, have great bedding, a comfortable mattress, and excellent working A/C. The food and the staff were excellent. They have a breakfast buffet which is awesome. As for location, it has a private beach. For those that complain its far from Alona Beach, the resort has a shuttle and its only a short ride. Having gone to Alona Beach, it's not anything special. You can walk the small strip in 10 minutes. The restaurants at Alona Beach are the same price if not more than the Bellevue and the Bellevue's food was far better. In summary, if you want luxury and excellent service, then stay at the Bellevue.

I love The Bellevue. Facilities-wise it's difficult to find something as pretty since it's brand new and sparkling. We stayed for three days and it was fantastic, mostly due to the innate beauty of Bohol. The lovely sky in that perfect shade of blue; pretty sand; trees, trees and trees. The Bellevue enhanced the natural beauty of the place by having an awesome kid and adult friendly infinity pool; huge rooms (and toilet); nice facilities. I didn't see the gym and the spa wasn't fully operational yet, but having those two things should soothe urbanites who need those things.

More on the amenities --

1. A BDO automated teller machine in the lobby makes cash access convenient. Of course when it breaks down, you need to go far, far away to withdraw money.

2. A couple of large restaurants. LARGE is the word (more on the food later).

3. Hotel shop for swimsuits, suntan, snacks and kid's beach toys.

4. Friends said there was a game room (of the pool table, hoops sort). My boss' nine year old grandson said it was fun there.

5. In-room safe, flat screen TV, iPod dock, separate bath tub and shower (with awesome rain-type water coming out), dental kit, sewing kit, shower cap, Kudos Spa bath products (soaps were okay; did not try the hair care stuff), rubber slippers, towels and robes.

6. Beds are great -- wonderful afternoon naps and full night time slumber guaranteed. They turn down the beds and leave chocolates, cookies and cupcakes at night. How you burn the calories from those is your problem.

However, I have to warn you about the following:

a. Service is lacking -- staff isn't polished and efficient. The adjectives "struggling" and "slow" come to mind. Resort is new so I hope this gets fixed.

b. Free food -- free halo-halo (shaved ice and sweet beans and fruits) to be exact. Why is this in the warning section? Because mine had one strand of human hair in it. Next serving was on the house. (To be fair, most Philippine restaurants would just replace; they gave the replacement for free.)

c. Food is not yummy. It's not bad, but it's not good either. Their congee was so, so, so bland; the pizza tasted like it was made with ordinary cheese. The adobo was great, though. Do yourself a favor and order the adobo.

d. The view could be ugly -- mine was of the roofs of the shanties beside the hotel. One of my bosses had a view of... a wall. Others had a fantastic view of the resort and sea. Ask for that.

---------

We went on a tour one early morning and had to miss the breakfast that came with the accommodation. The staff kindly packed a sandwich set and meat+rice box for me, with fruit, and a boiled egg. At 4:30 in the morning. They are angels.

You can walk to neighboring resorts to arrange dive packages or eat cheap, which is great if you are in Bohol to dive or on a budget.

Recommended and would come back.

Room Tip: The view could be ugly -- mine was of the roofs of the shanties beside the hotel. One of my bosses h...

The Bellevue offers a nice beach and a beautiful pool. The recreation room for kids is complete. The gym is small though. The rooms with the ocean view is spectacular. If you are looking for a restful place in Bohol with 5-star service this is definitely one of the candidates.

Overall a nice experience. Hotel is lovely but only one restaurant open so plan on going out for lunch or dinner if you stay a few days. Need to take a car to Aluna Beach, the main hang-out but only hotel car available for 600 pesos for 10 minutes. You can get local taxi back for 150. Aluna Beach has nice bars and seafood dining by the sea - very good grilled fish. Hotel rooms are 5 star and very comfortable. Staff is very friendly but slow as you can imagine. It is a small Island!

First family trip to the Philippines, three nights in Manila and three nights in Bohol. My wife found the Bellevue after a long search for a decent resort on the beach and the Bellevue did not disappoint. The hotel opened in Nov 2012 and located in Doljo which is opposite side to Alona beach but we found it to be great location. As the hotel is right on the white sandy beach, our kids had a great time exploring the beach for marine life at low tide. There was so much marine life which they only saw for the first time, there was an abundance of small crabs, small starfishes, large starfishes, sea cucumber, and sea urchin. Need to be careful of the sea urchin. Facilities exceeded our expectation and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Not all the restaurant are open as yet so choices is limited but it was fine with us. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: We have two kids, one 10 and one 11 years old. We were originally had two queen size beds but no oce...

My husband stayed a few days @ Bellevue Hotel. We were impressed with the 5 star service and accommodations. The infinity pool was breath taking and relaxing . Their breakfast buffet was very sufficient, but not as impressive as the Shangrila standard. Sad about this place...and I heard it from many clients... the hotel provided free airport transfers to/from the airport, but charged a hefty P100/pax to go to Alona Beach one way. This transpost only happened @ 8pm and a return for another P100/pax @ 10pm every night. No day service shuttle services were offered.
Considering that this hotel/resort is located away from the action (Alona Beach happens to be the Little Boracay...), the least that Bellevue could have offered is a free shuttle service every 2 hrs to/from Alona. Most guests were forced to stay in the premises because of the hefty price to pay for a shuttle for dinner. Can you imagine a family of 4 taking the shuttle for dinner every night? A car rental one way cost P600.00. My husband did the motorcycle route where we rented a motorcyle with the driver for onlyP30/pax .

Room Tip: beach view rooms are ideal; rooms with even nos....
