“Excellent staff and restaurant. Beach is pleasant, but dive oriented.”
Reviewed June 11, 2009

Comfortable, clean rooms (stayed in annex) and facilities. The restaurant food and service was excellent - variety and flavor. Beach is fine. Swimmable at mid tide and above right in front of OASIS, but all tides a bit further down beach. Access to great diving and snorkle sites.
Would go back again if returning to bohol.

My husband and I just returned from 5 nights as Oasis and loved it. We did our open water dive certification here and had a great experience. The staff are professional and kind. The restaurant has pretty good food but there are many other options around the corner so there is a lot to choose from. We stayed in a cabana with aircon and they are set around a pretty garden and pool area. The room was clean and comfortable and they kept it well stocked with water and treats. Its a very mellow environment with good management.

The name of the hotel says it all. It really is a little oasis within a bustling little town/village. The wooden huts are situated around a swimming pool in beautiful, well tended gardens. There are also some two story blocks just off the beach with a sitting room and shower room down stairs and bedroom upstairs. All very comfortable and nicely decorated.

Breakfast was good with lots of choice and lunch and dinner was also available again with a huge choice and all dishes were delicious.

The staff were attentive and friendly giving advice and help when needed. The owner was also charming and helpful. She can also name your perfume at "ten paces"!!!! The dive centre can organise boat trips for island visits for diving etc. We went out at 6 o'clock one morning and saw hundreds of dolphins and then went off the reef for a swim. Wonderful, although I wish they wouldn't chase the dolpins. One day they will chase them away!!

The hotel is situated in the middle of the village therefore you can wander up and down the beach easily and then in the evening pick the restaurant you want to eat in at your leisure. And there are some great places to eat!!!!

All in all a great little hotel with good food and staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to almost anyone I know.

We also stayed at the Bohol Beach Club and Flushing Meadows Hotel on Pangalo and for location we think this is the best.

Thanks for a great stay. We would love to return again one day.

This is a charming little hotel on a busy beach. Although the operation has direct access to the beach, where the diving centre and beach bar are located, the accommodation is tucked in the back amongst perfectly manicured gardens. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean with large bathrooms.
The staff were very competent and helpful both over the internet and once we were there. They organised our transfers, which were perfectly timed: a taxi was waiting for us at Cebu airport to take us to the ferry terminal and again a taxi was waiting at the other end. Obviously we had to pay a premium for this and it could be easily organised by ourselves, but if felt quite nice not to have to worry about.
The bar and restaurant area are also very pleasant although quite quiet – they keep it deliberately low-key so people can sleep peacefully. There were lots of families with kids so it’s not really a young vibrant crowd anyway.
It is also very handy to have the diving centre on site and it’s truly very relaxed – except if you are going to Cabilao leaving at 6am! The guides are good although not very communicative so you have to stop staff by yourself.

We had such a pleasant stay at the Oasis. The resort is a beautiful and stylish ensemble of bungalows and a restaurant in a lush garden, located next to the beach. There's also a swimming pool and a diving school. The staff is outstandingly friendly, helpful and considerate.

We booked the trip with our dive shop to do some speciality dive courses. The one course we actually wanted to do was not available because there was no instructor certified to do the Underwater Naturalist Course. Marcus - the hotel manager - went out of his way to find one and introduced us to a fantastic Swiss instructor (Youri). We stuck with him for 5 days to learn everything he was able to certify us on in such a short time - Deep diving, Nitrox and Peak Performance Buoyancy. Rarely have I seen a dive shop run that professionally.

The resort:
- the food is the best to be found at Alona Beach
- the rooms are basic but very comfy and clean
- normally the tap water in Bohol is brackish, at the Oasis you have fresh water for a few hours every morning and evening
- the staff are friendly and polite, nothing is too much trouble
- value for money is excellent
- pool and garden are clean and well cared for

  • Liked — the dive shop, the friendliness of the staff
  • Disliked — there was nothing to dislike

Oasis Resort on Alona Beach combines comfort, hospitality, beauty, and excellent service.

We had a shuttle take us to the resort when we arrived at the port in Bohol. Everyone was accommodating, and we even had welcome drinks. No problems checking in, and met the owners and dive masters straight away.

The ROOMs:
We had a room on a hut, next to the swimming pool. The white sand beach was just a couple of minutes walk down some steps. The resort is a basic diver's resort, not too fantastic for honeymooners. It's more of a family/friend diving holiday. The rooms are airconditioned, beds are comfortable and bathroom is basic, but clean.

The Experience:
The food was great, and prices were reasonable. My father even wanted ice cream and an employee went to buy some just for him! At night, everyone goes out to the beach front to walk along the shore and choose their favourite sea food that is freshly grilled .

Diving:
If you're a diver, this is a great resort to be. They provide the tanks, boats, and we even had a Swedish dive master for a couple of our dives. The other dive masters were very experienced and took care of us. The dives were well-planned, safe, and excellent.

For NON-DIVERS:
There are a number of activities you can do, and the resort is happy to arrange these for you. The most exciting bit was dolphin watching early in the morning. The beach is beautiful, and you can get a massage by the water. The sand is powder white, and so fine. One can go exploring beyond Alona Beach.

Overall, I would go back to this resort. It's great for the family, for a group of friends, or for a young couple into diving. The prices were very reasonable, and the people were absolutely lovely. They have their own dive shop close to the beach front. I recommend this resort for people on a budget, but wanting some comfort as well.
