There was a mix up with the booking but the owners managed to find us a room even though it was very busy as there was a medieval event taking place. The room we were given was a single room but with a double bed. Had there only been 1 person staying there then it would have been more than adequate but with two people it was very cramped. There wasn't any aircon so we had to sleep with the windows open, which looked out on to a courtyard at the back of the hotel, this meant that we didn't have any street noise but we could hear the staff chatting whilst having their break.
We ate at the hotel in the evening, the food was delicious and we had a wonderful view of the castle. There was no parking at the hotel and due to the medieval event we ended up parking in a field outside the village, this was a minor irritation but as the weather was so nice the walk was very pleasant.
We would come back but next time we would make sure that there was no mix up by contacting the hotel prior to travel to confirm that they had our booking.More
