We were drawn to this hotel as it is dog friendly, also in the bar, where they serve great food.
It has a worn but very cosy feel to it and of course a fantastic view.
There are a few little things that are noticeable like some mould on the bathroom ceiling but they are easy to overlook as it burst with so much charm and comfort. With a roaring log fire and beautiful fresh flowers everywhere.
Bar staff and food were excellent and thank you for the birthday song!
Thank you for allowing our dog to be part of a special stay.

Visited the hotel for a short stay for our wedding anniversary where we received a warm welcome from the staff as always. Both dinner and breakfast were to their usual high standards. What a difference it makes to have locally sourced produce freshly cooked to perfection.
The room was spotless and in keeping with a traditional period house which creates a relaxing atmosphere which is extended throughout the hotel.
A huge thank you Duncan, Manja and all of the GHH staff for making such a home from home for us..... (already booked for next year)

We loved this hotel. It may need a bit of updating but we thought it just added to the whole experience. It is a beautiful old house with the most amazing views. Our room was clean and spacious. The shower stopped working but the manager did check it out for us, sadly it needed a plumber but they were kind enough to reduce our bill because of it so can't complain. There was a bath to use. Food was good - you could choose between the bar or the restaurant - same menu in each. Would recommend getting a table in the bar if you want to enjoy the evenings entertainment as it gets busy. Loved the laid back feel of the place and would definitely go there again if in the area. A gem of a hotel.

While the property is a little down at the heels, this only adds to the charm of this wonderful hotel on the shores of Loch Shiel. If you are looking for a modern hotel with all the trimmings (we were not) this is not the place for you. My only criticism is that considering the money, they could have provided a little more service, for example, carrying your bags to your room. But this was a truly small price to pay for an otherwise lovely experience.

Thank you very much for your review and we are happy that you have enjoyed your stay with us. We usually always offer to help bring the luggage to your room and I am sorry if it wasn't in your case. I have addressed this issue with the GHH Team.

We went to visit the glenfinnan monument and having previously stopped In the village for something to eat and going to the train museums dinning car, we thought we'd try the hotel. the reception was warm and welcoming. The lady behind the bar was very nice and chatty and the food we received was top class! it was reasonably priced and good quality.....highly recommended.

The Glenfinnan sits on the banks of Loch Shiel with views across to Ben Nevis. It is a lovely, traditional old house with wood-fires burning as you enter. We had the Four-poster suite which was enormous and had a separate bedroom for our two children. It had a huge bathroom with jacuzzi bath and views across the loch. The bed was massive and extremely comfortable. The house is a little tired and could do with some upgrading but this does not spoil the stay. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was the best we had, with top-quality local ingredients. Service was lovely throughout our stay. This has the added attraction of being within a 10 minute stroll of The Glenfinnan Viaduct, as featured in Harry Potter, an exciting plus-point for the children. There is no TV and no wifi, which made it even more peaceful and relaxing.

I left this afternoon after being there for 3 nights for my wedding. It was an amazing experience. I visited the hotel last year whilst looking for wedding venues. Having visted a few we booked this on the spot. It is an old coutry house on the banks of a fantastic loch. It's not a state of the art hotel it is not meant to be. What it is though is an excellent hotel, a great location, well managed, serves exceptional food, rooms were excellent and the service was as good as you get. If you want a flat screen tv and every room to be the same then book a hotel chain with no character. You may struggle for loch views, the drawing room and the quality of food though. If Ronseal done hotels this would be theirs. Definitely does exactly what it says on the tin.
