Owner description: Please note: Yarak is NOT open as a walk in Public Visitor Centre. Yarak birds of prey is a stand alone privately owned specialist Bird of Prey Centre which concentrates on hands on experiences for people wishing to handle and fly birds of prey and learn about them all in a totally private environment. The centre is run by experienced professional falconers that really care about their birds and customers. All the birds here are classed as "family" and are treated with a huge amount of respect and want for nothing. All experiences are strictly by appointment only.

This half-day experience was one of the highlights of my life! The demonstrator was extremely knowledgeable and gave an excellent presentation.

I have been to other falconry places but none match Yarak for their caring of their birds' health & welfare.

I have never had a flying experience before. But to be able to 'handle' and fly so many birds was extremely stimulating.

Do give Yarak a try - you will not regret it.

My husband and myself had a half day experience here recently and sincerely enjoyed it. The centre is in a lovely location and the people so friendly. Both Charlotte and Michelle are so informative, engaging and easy going which truly made the experience worthwhile. The birds are beautiful and clearly well looked after. It's a pity we didn't get a closer encounter with the eagles is my only minor negative. My favourite is definitely Smudge the little owl who was a star in the handling experience, he definitely has personality. Can't recommend the centre enough for a handling experience and what we've both learnt as a result. The facilities are clean, the coffee good and you can tell everyone is passionate about their work. Thank you Yarak for a great day and we wish you all the best.

Yesterday 6th September 2013 our Group Sidmouth Living with Cancer Support Group visited the Centre and had a wonderful time. There was 20 of us and we had lunch and a Cream Tea.
The service and food were excellent and most reasonably priced. We all loved the Birds and display's. The hospitality we received was second to none and we thank them all for looking after us so well. We will be back and recommend any Group to go there.

We went to yarak on Sunday 1st September. We got there when it opened and were met by the owner. Having grabbed a cup of tea after a long journey we were informed that we could take it round with us. The site was beautifully clean and all the signage on the averies were well written and very informative.
The owner showed some of us the newest addition and gave us the chance to take photos and have a question and answer session.
We then went to see the first flying display of the day. Michelle is just fab with the birds and you can tell that she has a great love for all of them. She is informative but with a very easy going nature and her knowledge is first class. She really does not mind looking just a little bit silly when the birds will not quite do what she would like them to do.
We have been to many birds of prey centres and can honestly say this is one of the most enjoyable places. I would recommend Yarak to anyone with an intrest in birds of prey.
* Tig the little owl was an absolute star on the day although we were very fortunate to experience wild birds of prey also.

Wonderful day flying eagles, owls and falcons. Very knowledgeable and pleasant hostess and a reasonable lunch. The centre is one of the best kept of this type we have visited and we have been to quite a few. The birds are well housed and look well cared for and include captive bred and rescue birds. we went on a full day experience and there were 6 adults with us, but this did not greatly reduce our time handling birds. The birds were not able to fly free on this occasion sadly but flew from post to post or person to person in a large field. It was all very good value for money for us but we were on a voucher deal - not sure what the cost would be otherwise. There is an opportunity to adopt a bird to help with costs of rescuing sad cases.
