The Bear Trail is a brand new outdoor children's adventure trail in the Devon countryside. It provides a site for children (and adults!) to run jump and climb. There are numerous obstacles to overcome, mud pits to cross, rickety bridges over water, zip wires, ropes, nets and tunnels to crawl through. It is possible to complete the trail without getting too muddy. Not many do!
We took three grandchildren ages 9, 10 & 12 and their aim was to get as muddy as possible. After numerous times around the trail we could just about recognise them!
There is a cafe on site and toilets, but only an outdoor cold shower to get clean afterwards. You are not allowed to use soap or shampoo for environmental reasons. There is a picnic area and dogs are allowed on leads.
If you intend to take the trail ensure that you wear old clothes and suitable footwear. Take towels and dry clothes to change into. Check the website for prices, opening times, conditions etc.
When it was time for us to go home the children washed off as much mud as possible and changed into clean dry clothes, but we still needed to sit them in bin liners to take them home in the car!
They can't wait to go again!
