The room was nice enough with a little balcony. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was really good, but oh what confusion. They would not let me take a cup of coffee back to my room. It was quite a production to order a cup of coffee and when it arrived, it was cold! However, I think that was an isolated incidedt. The staff was quite nice and very helpful.

Ask for a room facing the road, there is an apartment building behind the hotel, their patios look right into your room, so for privacy you will have to keep the curtains closed....unless you don't mind strangers watching!

We booked a room in August in this hotel. Service is good. Our room had air condition (you can control) and it was big and nice, although it needed a general makeover. The bathroom was very big with radio inside, a large bathtube and a big sink. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a terrace in front of the sea.
The hotel position is away from the city center but I think it's an advantage if you have a car. Infact the hotel has a private access to the seaside and the staff give you towels and a sunbed. Overall I'd say it's a very good hotel although it needs a renovation.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such an upbeat designed hotel on the coast of Sicily. Not far from Messina and close to Taormina, the hotel had plenty to offer. If you plan on discovering the east coast of Sicily, then I would highly recommend this hotel. There are restaurants nearby and easy to get in and out of even during rush hour. Make sure your GPS is working as there are many streets leading up to the hotel from the outskirts or Autostrada. The rooms are large and quiet. The decoration is colorful with plenty of modern art. The staff, both day and night crews was very helpful and fun to speak with. I felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The pool is kept super clean despite the fact that we were there in November. I give this hotel a thumbs up for all categories from room to lobby.

Room Tip: Back of the hotel room facing the water are great!

Myself and my wife recently stayed in this hotel and we were very disappointed overall with the experience. The room we got was nothing like the website pictures, it was very dated, small and shabby. The hotel in general is in need of a more modern makeover. Food was served for only 4 hours a day and there is a lack of restaurants and shops near the hotel. The hotel advertised their location as 4 kilometers from the city center but in fact it is closer to 10. There is limited public transport and taxis were very expensive. Overall the location is extremely poor and I would recommend staying in a hotel closer to the city. The one positive thing I can say is that the staff are very professional and friendly in the hotel.

If you want to be on the Catania Riviera, away from the city center but not far,if you want to have quick access to the roads and highways for your island's attraction, like Taormina, this is the place to stay.We found the hotel easy from the airport(7-8km),due to visible signals on the roads(something rare and confusing in Sicily,in general:),the location was quite all day, even if across the street was a disco. The overall feeling is not similar to other Sheraton properties, but we have to remember that we are in Sicily.Nothing, though made me feel as in a second class place. On the contrary, compared with everything on the island was classy, cozy and with some sense of luxury. The parking is perfect, even though one can find places on the street.I didn't try, preffered to pay some extra for the private one.The staff were professional and helpful from the desk to the restaurant. The spa is small but convenient. The pool is ok,the food was wonderful. The rooms are spacy and well furnished. We got a deal being in honeymoon(I appreciated, didn't ask for it),but the price was more than convenient for the conditions provided.

Room Tip: sea view,of course, last floors.

To sum up the whole atmosphere that this hotel creates is that it is different, almost quirky as another person has commented. Overall, a good experience, but with one or two episodes that I have never come across in a 'Starwood' group hotel, generally these made us smile, but others may have felt different.
A case in point was dinner on one of our nights there, having had a drink at the bar we went to the restaurant on the first floor only to find everything in darkness. Returning downstairs we were greeted by the duty chef hastily arranging tables in a smaller dining area beside the bar, this was about 20 minutes after the restaurant should have opened. Many apologies were offered, staff having reported ill at a very late stage, but it did give the impression of a lack of organisation. The meal though was excellent when it arrived, as was the local wine, chef personally bringing the food to the table. The dinners generally are a strong point with an eye to Sicilian produce and quality, restaurant and bar staff are eager to please, especially Ketta and Gaetano who would be stars in any hotel, they quickly got to know us and were attentive throughout our stay. We did meet the Head chef later in the week, he is very enthusiastic about his restaurant and is innovative with his menu. Breakfasts are OK but fairly simple affairs with local hams and cheeses together with pastries. Reception staff are also very friendly and helpful.
The hotel looks nice as you walk in with lots of artwork, mirrors and bright colours, but the rooms are in need of refurbishment if ours was anything to go by. A lot of patching up was noticeable and the walls were badly marked in heavy usage areas, such as around plugs. The room was also one of the smallest we have stayed in at a 'Starwood', everything was kept clean though and the beds were comfortable.
A car is essential to visit Etna and the local towns and resorts, but unless you have nerves of steel avoid central Catania at all costs, very crowded, very impatient and very unforgiving. Fortunately the hotel run a free shuttle bus into Catania two or three times a day taking you to the Via Etnea. Besides Etna itself, which smoked gently through our visit apart from an outburst one afternoon (locals believe it is due another major eruption anyday), there are lots of spectacular and picturesque towns within easy reach such as Randazzo, Castigleone di Sicilia and Taormina. Don't miss Admiral Nelsons castle near Bronte, beautiful and very atmospheric. The motorways are the safest roads to use if possible, cheap tolls, well maintained and with a better standard of driving on the whole. Note that Sat Nav will try to take you to the motorway from the hotel via the Catania east exit, this is not a route for the faint hearted, through narrow streets and unmarked multi lane roads, take the S114 around Aci Castello to the next junction at Acireale instead, it's a few miles extra but worth it!
I have rated the hotel as a 4 mainly because of the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff, both of which made for an enjoyable stay. The rooms need a refit if ours was typical, and they are small, but having said that, we slept well on nice beds and the room was kept very clean by housekeeping.

Room Tip: Simply ask for one of the bigger rooms or at least one facing the sea.

A nice hotel on the seafront with a pool and access to the sea via a private underpass (obtain key from reception, you also need your room key to acess the pool). The beach is just volcanic rock, no sand. Our room had good sea views.
We stayed three nights at this hotel on a Titan tour. On arrival we found the air conditioning and TV remote not working and we could get no cold water from any of the taps in our bathroom. These complaints were relayed to Reception by both ourselves and our tour manager (who could get no hot water!) then we went to a decent dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Returning to our room, the air conditioning was working, the TV remote changed but the water was still hot. Contacted reception again, they said it had been fixed. I said no and we wanted cold water. Shortly a young man appeared with a bag of ice! I sent him back to reception with the ice (mistake!) and the message that we didn't want ice, just cold water out of our taps. Reception rang within minutes and I explained again. They said the ice was a misunderstanding and someone would come again. The same young man came and turned on all the taps until eventually the water ran cold. Fine! During the rest of our stay the only way of obtaining cold water was to run off gallons of hot water first, then the water turned hot again a minute after stopping the flow.. On leaving at the end of our otherwise fine stay I told the manager that I believed our room was not connected to the cold supply at all and we were simmply exhausting the hot water in our bit of the hotel. The manager denied this but said that it was possible a valve had furred up and jammed.
This is a nice hotel with flash public areas but I think it is not up to Sheraton standards, even in Italy! At least I hope not, I've not stayed in a Sheraton before but I understand they are at least supposedly the equivalent of Hiltons and Marriotts, where I have regularly stayed.
To be fair, I don't think our fellow travellers had quite as much trouble with water as we did.
