Stayed in the hotel Daine from 07th Sept – 21st Sept and loved every minute of it. We booked a superior room with wonderful views across the bay. These rooms do not get the sun in the late afternoon/evening, book side and back rooms if you want late afternoon sun on the balcony.
The hotel had been refurbished since our last visit several years ago and looked marvellous. The rooms were very comfortable with all the usual equipment and a furnished balcony. The fridge and safe were at no extra cost. Rooms can be different sizes and shapes so if you aren’t happy request a move which is what people did while we were there, the hotel will accommodate you if possible.
All staff were very friendly and always smiling. Entertainment was about 5 times a week split between the hotel bar and the pool bar across the paved walkway (no traffic allowed).
The pool & pool bar area were lovely both day and night. We never had any problem getting a sun bed but earlier in the summer may be more difficult. €20 deposit for a towel which you can change throughout your stay and get a refund at the end.
We were half board and I must say the food was very tasty both at breakfast and dinner.
This hotel is well situated on the Pine Walk at the front of the resort and everything is close at hand. The local buses were 3-4 minutes walk away and you could travel all over the island at very little cost. Alcudia & Pollensa old towns were two beautiful places. We also did a 2.5hour glass bottom boat ride around the north of the island which was lovely and the boat was about 7-8 minutes walk away.
All in all we would go back to this resort and hotel as we just loved it and would highly recommend both

Room Tip: Front rooms have the view but no sun on the balcony in the late afternoon / evenings

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Daina, our first. Very difficult to find fault as the staff, food, pool area and location were all excellent, but I have to agree with some of the recent reviews. My wife and I were in room 506 (west facing) with a beautiful side sea view overlooking the marina and Pollenca Bay. The bedroom was a good size and had recently benefited from a 'make over' with modern fabrics, flat screen tv and a suspended fridge on the wall! What it lacked was storage space (see photo) except for four small drawers there wasn't any. OK for a week but difficult thereafter. There was a small wardrobe, just enough for us to hang our clothes on one side. It had shelves on the other side, but they were so shallow they wouldn't hold a folded T shirt. Beds were comfy, but air conditioning even when on it's lowest setting was noisy and the ceiling fan was suffering with a humming sound coming from a damaged switch, so sleeping was problematic.
The other disappointment was the bathroom which was tiny and I mean tiny. Same problems as mentioned in other reviews with the shower screen. You need to nimble and good on your feet! No bidet which for a supposed 4 star was a big let down.
In my view the "make over" to a 60's building has only been partially successful. An opportunity to make better use of space in our bedroom (and peeking into others) by incorporating additional storage has been missed. A wet room conversion or certainly just a shower cubicle would have made better use of the very limited space in the bathroom.

Access to the reception is at the side. The only road access is at the rear and parking is difficult and restricted so dropping suitcases off could be a problem. In our case I watched the hire car while my wife rolled the cases in. I then went to find parking while my wife checked in. I stumbled across the free parking about 10 minutes walk from the hotel . Maybe a map on the hotel website would be useful.

Would we go back? Yes for a week, because the pluses (including tea making facilities and free safe deposit box) out way the minuses and you could always try requesting a different room as some rooms are bigger.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front and facing west get most sun. Higher floors have better views. Rooms at the back...

Back for our third visit to this hotel, but there is a few things that could be done to improve the accommodation.

The glass shower guard over the bath needs a new seal as the water runs over the bath onto the floor. Even better get rid of bath and put in proper shower unit.

The safe in the wardrobe is too high and when the door is open the sliding doors bang in to it and knocks out the connection with the batteries.

Most visitors need to wash a few underclothes during a two week holiday and a small clothes dryer would avoid washing being strung across the balcony

Albeit these few minor improvements all the staff and chambermaids are very helpful

Wow, can't believe that it was less than 12 months since our last visit to the hotel. We booked again because we had such a lovely time last year. We specifically booked a seaview room as there is an option on the booking website to do this, the view as you stand on the balcony is fabulous.

The facilities at the hotel are excellent with ample bar seating areas inside, outside and poolside. The cocktails (6.95 Euros), are quite strong and the staff are very friendly and efficient. The poolside bar is open during the daytime and through into the night and is cash only, which was a slight disappointment.

The entertainment in the evenings both in the hotel and poolside was very enjoyable, with a nice mix of traditional Spanish guitar, solo artists and groups. The poolside bar area in particular is in very pleasant surroundings being situated jutting out into the sea.

The restaurant food was very good, possibly not quite as good as last year (some veg was cold on a couple of evenings), however the variety cannot be faulted with a good selection and with some themed evenings this year. The Head Waiter was as super-efficient and attentive as last year, never failing to ensure that any left-over drinks were kept chilled and re-served for us the following evening.

The cleaning staff work very hard and do clean thoroughly as well as turning-the-beds in the early evening. There was a couple of times however when the room was cleaned quite late in the day (around 4.00pm-5.00pm), which could have been a problem had we chosen to be in the room.

All in all the experience was a very pleasant one and we will be looking to return again next year. I was very surprised at how many of the guests were returning guests, some even had a photo album showing their previous visits which they were showing to the staff, many of whom have obviously worked there for a number of years.

(NOTE-We did find generally that cocktail prices in other Pollenca bars had increased significantly in price OR were quite weak to taste OR in some instances both).

Room Tip: Seaview is an absolute must, it helps make the holiday / break, particularly if it is a romantic one...

Have just returned from a 5 day stay.Having booked from reading the reviews, we were disappointed when we entered reception like the previous review mentioned. We booked a part sea view balcony room which was very small with 2 beds pushed together, the fridge was fitted to the wall because lack of floor space, but the main problem was the bath room which was described by another guest as like a telephone box.If you were a large person you would definitely have problems. On the positive side the balcony was large and if you did not look at the building work the view was lovely.
We noticed that the hotel in their own group brochure were quoting it as 3 star, which I think it is only a 3 star.
Bear in mind you have to deposit 20 euros, which is refundable,to get a towel for sun bathing. And if you like a walk along the promenade after breakfast you will be to late to get one due to the lack of them. We only managed to get one 3 out of 5 days.
The hotel in all areas does not come up to 4 star standard.

Room Tip: If you are used to 4 star don't go

Very good hotel at a perfect location in Port Pollensa. Roms are nice and clean but no extras. Breakfast buffet is excellent and best enjoyed at the beautiful terrace. Reception and common areas are ok, staff are ok, but nothing to get more excited about. It's not inexpensive but Port Pollensa in general is not an inexpensive place. I can recommend the hotel.

I really don't like to give negative feedback but feel that is really the purpose of reviews - give the good and the bad. My husband and I were returning to Port de Pollenca (which is a great getaway town for a long weekend) and had another hotel booked for 3 nights. We needed to shift our dates forward and our original hotel did not have a vacancy for the extra night so we booked here. After reading the reviews I thought this would be similar to the hotel we booked. It was far from it. The lobby was our first impression and it is very dated and quite frankly, no character to speak of, (I realize we don't spend much time in the lobby - but it is part of the experience). The hotel staff was just okay - and to be fair, we were working with someone who was brand new on the job - but still part of our first impression. We had a double room with a seaside view - there was a strong smell of disinfectant when we walked in and the room decor was very dated (perhaps we were in a non-renovated room?). It was large with a seating area and a bedroom - large walk-in closet and spacious, but dated bathroom. While we did in fact have a partial seaside view - we were looking square into a run down condo or apartment building. One of the apartments had an old, stained mattress on its balcony - another had its laundry hanging out to dry. We stayed here during the August holiday (last weekend in August) and there were tons of people just outside the hotel - very late into the night. It had a spring break party atmosphere. My husband's comment was "at least we're only staying here one night...". To be honest, the rest of the weekend we stayed in a much nicer hotel for almost the same amount of money.
