“Great hotel - if a little too children orientated (sorry!)”
Reviewed September 1, 2010

This hotel was great. Very clean - food is AMAZING, plus in the restaurant in the evening, you pay 3 euros per person for as many drinks as you like in the restaurant.

The pool area was the problem for us. Now dont get me wrong, i love kids, but there was no respite from the constant inflatables in the pool and screaming and splashing (The sticking point for me was thr 10 year old telling his sister that he was weeing in the pool) In the main pool, there is 'grease megamix' style music played all day, then again from 8.30pm, which when you are having your dinner in the restaurant , is a little grating. This was the main reason we didnt sit at that pool at all, the other being that most of the sunbeds were warped by the heat so not very comfortable to sit on anyway. The other smaller pool is much quieter, and has a small kids pool attached, but here there was no escape from the blow up boats and kids with water pistols, on quite a few occassions, adults were swimming in the KIDS pool because the adults pool was teeming with kids!! Im not being snobby about children, it is probably perfect for families, but I dont understand why it shouldnt function to cater for couples also. Very simply, by having the quiet pool adults only? When we arrived there was an electrical problem in our room so we were put up in a deluxe apartment fro a night, which was gorgeous! and on top of that, got a free massage to boot!! in the smaller apartment we had a few problems with ants in the bed but this was always sorted by staff very quickly. The slighlty annoying problem with the room was that there were plasic waterproof sheets on the bed which wasnt very pleasant. I would recommend to ask for a view of the mountain as opposed to the pool/restaurant because it is constant music all day and night until 12am. We hired bikes from reception most days and biked the 10 mins to Puerto Pollensa, we also walked it a lot, and never found it difficult. You can get a bus outside the hotel if you prefer, which either goes to Pollensa Old Town, Cala San Vincenc and Peutro Pollensa. I would strongly recommend a visit to the Old Town, it is a magical place, and the Sunday Market is fantastic to people watch with a coffee. We also got the bus to Alcudia old town which is delightful but the beach isnt really worth bothering with, full of KFC, Pizza Hut and Burger Kings (unless you like that kind of thing obviously!) plus the view from Alcudia beach is of a power station! Puerto Pollensa has a lovely beach, and great resturants and cafes.

The staff at the hotel were incredible, we hired bikes and cycled 12km to Alcudia, where i discovered 2 flat tires, i called the hotel who promptly sent someone down to pick up my bike and offered to replace it or give us a lift back no questions asked it was great of them to do that. The hotel is very nice in itself, the building is fresh and clean and the sporting facilities are great.

Next year the hotel are including an all-inclusive option with Thomas Cook, so I imagine this will solidify this as a kids-club type hotel which for us is a shame because its in such a relaxing environment. I did very much enjoy my time there but I wasnt aware just how child-orientated it was. I feel this should be specified on the tour oporators websites that it is dedicated to kids really (as i am pre-kids) these are the types of hotels I usually avoid.

We stayed here as I wanted to stay in Puerto Pollensa. We read the reviews and overall we agree that it is a very nice place to stay.
The staff are very helpful and efficient. When we checked- in, in the early hours of the morning the night porter Paul ( an English guy) could not of been more helpful. The restaurant had also put aside a buffet for us as we had missed our evening meal due to flight delays. The rooms are well equipped although a little dated. The gardens of the hotel are very nice and the pool area and bar are very nice too. There is a shortage of sun loungers and the pool would be a better if it was shallower, however, overall the pool area is very nice.
Jenn and Matt the childrens entertainers were brilliant with our daughter and they also put a good show on in the evening.
The food in the restaurant is very good, lots to choose from.
Due to its location this hotel is where you will spend most of your time and there is no need to go off into the main resort. The resort is too far to walk, however ,there is a bus nearby, whenever, we went in to Puerto Pollensa we went by bus and came back by Taxi 5 euros. The nearest beach is a13 minute fast walk away, this is the beach away from Puerto Pollensa centre / Marina if you go to this beach it would still take 10 - 15 minutes to walk along the promenade back to the marina and centre. We thought this beach was the nicest, it was a beautiful beach. The sea was very clean and calm. The sun loungers were only 11 euros for two and a parasol ( I think they might be free on Sundays as we never got charged, we may just have been lucky) we went to the beach 3 times and enjoyed it a lot. We never got to go to Pollensa town but heard it was really nice.
We love Majorca and would definitley consider the Duva as one of the better places we have stayed at .

Just got back from a week at the Duva. After a shock the week before hand when the travel company that we booked with went bust, we had a fantastic stay. The hotel is well above what we expected having read some of the previous reviews. The rooms are well laid out clean tidy and can sleep up to 4 in a one bed apartment. The food is fabulous with breakfast and dinner having enough choice to cater for any taste. The staff are very freindly and Beil on reception is fantastic and helped make the stay a possibility when we found out the original booking was lost when Sun 4 U went under. The entertainment team (Matt & Jen) go above the call of duty to make the kids and the adults feel welcome and also entertained. There is a good balance of external acts and hotel ran shows which are all of a good standard. The pool area is a little small but it's enough to cool off in. I agree with some of the comments about the lack of space around the pool and sun beds as the apartments next door (Habitat) share the facilities and you have to be quick in the morning to get a space around the pool. The walk to the resort centre or beach is about 15 to 20 mins long and when it's hot with young kids it can be a little testing but the walk is worth the hassle as the beach is great with plenty of sun loungers and a bars shops and places to eat. The centre itself is great with plenty going on day and night and its actually bigger then I expected but still with lots of local charm. Overall if you are looking from a good holiday in Majorca you would struggle to find better for the cost.

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Duva Apartment which were lovely and we had a nice holiday unfortunately the main largest Pool which our girls wanted to play in had no where near enough space or sunbeds and the space that was there wasn't used well i.e. 2 x pool side pool tables taking up room and too many tables and chairs. The layout could have been changed between day and night to allow more space. As people from the next door Habitat could also use the pool it ment you had to get up and be at the pool by 08:30 every morning if you wanted a lounger, which did slightly spoil our holiday, you can't reserve beds with towels as they were removed. Apart from the pool space everything was great and we had a lovely holiday. There is another small shallow pool with loads of space round about but again very few sun loungers, not sure why, but unfotunately our girls where not happy there. We only ate once in the Duva and the it seemed OK but I couldn't eat there everynight but it might be OK for some. It is a good 20 min walk down to the beach and into the main resort where the restaurants are but we enjoyed the stroll.
We would recommmend The Hotel Mirimar for great Paella and the Tapas Restaurant next door to it does brilliant modern Tapas, keep going all the way up the Pine walk for a lovely evening strool and great Pizza in Little Italy, Other restaurants I would recommend would be BrisaMarina (I think it was called on the beach front) and The Ivy (Garden)

The Duva is a lovely hotel, the rooms are clean and the cleaning staff come daily. The rooms are big and have all the stuff you would want- air con, a kettle, all your crockery/pots and pans etc, two cooking rings and a telly. The pool is a good size and very deep. There is a spa and gym. I never used the gym. The spa was a bit of a let down, we went to the spa late one night and the one thing working was the sauna and turkish bath. The jacuzzi and steam room were both off and also a warning- take your own swim hat and flip flops or you will have to buy them. Air con is free but you have to pay 15 Euros for the safe for a week and 5 Euros deposit.

The hotel itself I think is more for families rather than adults without kids. Every night there is mini-disco, a very loud kids disco, mercifully it is quite short, but not what you want to hear if you are after peace and quiet.

Also another warning, the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the town, if you want to be in the center of things then this isn't for you.

If i went again I would probably go somewhere nearer town as I don't have kids and would have liked to be closer to things, but the hotel itself was nice and very clean, nice hotel, shame about the location.

First time stay with my wife and two teenage kids. Lovely hotel, staff friendly, rooms spacious and cleaned everyday except Sunday. We stayed for 13 nights and upon arrival upgraded to half board for 7 nights. This cost 75 euros per day for all of us and included the drinks package with our evening meal, self service beer and sangria as much or as little as you want, the food was varied and plentiful very good.
The hotel has two pools, the main one had plenty of sunbeds although you got the usual race in the morning to get your towels on, but the great thing about the hotel was staff came round most mornings and removed the towels if no one was sat with them, well done. We had some fun watching from our balcony when people returned to find someone in their place. Good on you hotel.
The location is on the outskirts of town about 20 minutes walk, along a pedestrian path. The town of Pollenca is lovely and a great beach, loads of restaurants and if you browse you can get some good deals on meals. 13 euros each for three courses including 4 drinks and a bottle of wine not bad, at the Can Torres in the square next to the church lovely.
Overall a lovely hotel that i would not hesitate to return too.

This was our first visit to the Duva, although we had been to Puerta Pollensa numerous times before, and I have to say we were all pleasantly suprised if not very impressed with the apartments. The whole complex is very clean and tidy. The rooms are nicely decorated with pictures hung in each of the rooms. The receptionists were very helpful and courteous. The spa and gym were great. Although slightly out of town the walk only took 15 minutes and a taxi 5 euros. We will be definetly going back sometime soon
