This is the third time that my wife and three children stayed here while visiting family for a couple of weeks and we couldn't be happier. The room we stayed in was large, clean, and comfortable and despite being 5 people, we had plenty of space. The balcony was huge the view of the mountains is incredible.
We ate at the restaurant a lot because the food was delicious. Everything was fresh including the oregano, which Carlo, the owner and head chef, would go to the mountain in the morning to pick. The pizza was amazing, of the best I've ever had, as was everything else (I usually just got the special, whatever it was, and it was always worth it). The service was great and the staff was friendly and accommodating. On a few nights, they had local singers perform on the outdoor dining area.
The hotel is in the outskirts of Castrovillari, about a mile from the highway (autostrada A3, I think). It's close to the mountains (Monte Pollino) and the beach (Villa Piana on the Ionian Sea). We went to the beach a few times, it took us about 20 minutes to go the 10 or so miles because the drive is for the most part a picturesque mountainside road. Absolutely gorgeous views the entire drive to the beach, but you can't really go that fast.More
