After enjoying a stay with friends in Oct 2011, we chose to spend Christmas 2012 in Catignano with our adult daughter and son. They soon agreed that we had not exaggerated either the beautiful serenity of the classic Tuscan countryside or the very comfortable, well equipped 2 bedroom Terrazzo apartment. Still, what most impressed them was the genuine friendliness and generous hospitality of Franco, Patrizia and Nicoletta, our host family.
We were surprised by the proximity to Firenze (90 min by road) and took 4-5 hour round trips to San Gimignano, Volterra and Lucca. Our fondest memories, though, are of the opportunity to spend a relaxing Christmas in and around Borgo dei Cadolingi, with leisurely roast lunch, afternoon drinks on the terrace, a walk past the surrounding vines and olive groves and evening drinks with Franco in his cellar / 'man cave'.More
