Ispica is a lovely place close to several attractions in south-east Sicily and the seaside with beautiful beaches. In the center, next to Basilica, piazza and restaurants, Palazzo Gambuzza offers so called suites, we would say luxury apartments with everything you wish even for a longer stay. We have seen most of the suites and couldn't tell which was our favorite - all are beautiful and extremely clean. Rosanna and Laura take care of this bijoux and make the guests feel comfortable. Thanks very much to the whole team for a really pleasant stay in Ispica!

When looking for a hotel in the south-eastern part of Sicily not too far from the seaside we came across the Palazzo Gambuzza. And it was the perfect decision to go there. We stayed there for six days and were very unhappy to leave.

At first sight you would not recognize the gate as an entrance to such a gem, but once having passed it you are entering a small private world. The old palazzo was restored very tastefully - a real flashback into history.
The different suites are designed individually. We spent our time in the suite called “Agave” in an annex to the main building. The “Agave” is a very large apartment offering the sleeping room on a gallery beneath an old wooden roof. Very cosy!

Breakfast room is directly above the huge old cistern which one could see through the glass floor. Breakfast is served individually and contained enough variety for a perfect start in the morning.

The palazzo is situated in the centre of Ispica, only 10 km from the beaches and very near to all beautiful baroque style towns (Noto, Ragusa etc) as well as great nature like the Ätna or the Cava Grande Cassibile.

We will definitely return to enjoy again the calm atmosphere of the palazzo and the cordial service of Laura & Rosanna.

Room Tip: Each suite is indivdually designed - they are all perfect!

Don't be deceived by its outward appearance; once we were through the main gate, our jaws dropped in amazement. The inner courtyard, like the rest of the property, has been very tastefully restored. By the the time we reached our 'room' (Angel), our jaws were dragging on the floor. It turned out to be a spacious suite, with large dining/kitchen area and bedroom (4 poster bed) and doors onto a terrace and a view of the nearby church. High frescoed ceilings. Breakfast was delightful, dining on a glass floor with a view of the huge cistern(?) below. Definitely a highlight of our trip (and one of the cheapest B&B's!) Made a good base for visiting Modica, Cava d'Ispica (including the nearby watermill) and the archaelogical park in Ispica itself which is a short walk away. Would be great to stay there at Easter and witness the Maundy Thursday procession in the church next door.

We stayed for three nights from Sunday 30th dec 2012 to Wednesday 2nd January 2013. What a start to the New Year! We stayed in suite called Pupi which consisted of a combined sitting/dining area with a large LCD TV, other two bedrooms and shower room all beautifully laid out and equipped. Both bedrooms had a lovely view of Ispica and the nearby beaches. Breakfast was continental type, but more than enough, with freshly squeezed Sicilian oranges, coffee, bread, local jams etc. We were very much pampered by the attention of all staff especially Laura and Rossana and the owners Cesare and Carmen were at hand around the clock two. Ispica in 2013 is a small town which caters very good as it is now well served with pizzerias, restaurant, banks and coffee shops. Going out very late in the evening is a pleasure and it is very safe to walk around during unearthly hours too. Looking forward to return back very soon!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea views!

A (should be) five star hotel which is really unique. The host is a very dedicated and friendly lady, Laura. Every room is actually a large suite and you will feel like a prince/princess. This historic building in the city centre has so much atmosphere. The ceiling are beautifulll decorated and the rooms have acces to large terraces with great views. Great value for money!
The breakfast is nice, fresh, local and original.

Ispica is an amazing little town with a lot of well kept old historic building and small cosy streets. Please visit restaurant Il Mercato in the old market hall, the owners will spoil you for sure.

We stayed for a couple of day in august while visiting eastern side of sicily. Very beautiful 19th century building, very close to the wonderful cathedral, clean and well furnished. The palace has been bought from a couple from northern italians sons of immigrant from ispica with no experience in tourism management. This was a bit evident by very standard (hotel based) breakfast. In such a nice and typical building you would expect to taste sicily also throughout the breakfast (this think is happened in all the other 6 places where we stay): no trace of local products, but industrial nutella and marmelades together with very unflauvoured brioches.
Last but not least, We were awake at 7am because of big noises made by workers who where hammering on fornitures in the next room. So for a good stay forget sicilian breakfasts and ask not to stay in rooms ULIVI (no windows except from the door).

We thoroughy enjoyed our few days in this roomy, elegant and atmospheric place. The charming women who run it were a delight to meet and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Breakfasts were great and beautifully presented. We especially appeciated the DSL Internet connection - so much more reliable than w-fi!
Since our visit coincided with a special festival, we had a ringside seat from the terrace for the band and the procession. Altogether a memorable experience.

Room Tip: Make sure use of kitchenette is included in price.
